Sugar bow without molds - Step by step

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Greetings, dear friends, today I will continue with another step by step making figures with sugar paste or better known as Fondant. In my previous publication you can see it by clicking on this link "Sugar roses " I taught them how to make beautiful roses

Below, we show you a very simple way to make a bow to decorate cakes, muffins or just a gift with an edible detail, it is not necessary to be a great pastry chef to make a figure with this moldable paste.

Materials to be used:

  • Fondant
  • Edible colors
  • Smooth roller
  • Cutting tool
  • CMC o tylose
  • Bright edible powder (Optional)

We take a portion of fondant and we give it smoothness, if possible, we put a little vegetable butter in our hands so that the dough does not stick, add a few drops of the color we want, once it has been added evenly, add a pinch of CMC to achieve elasticity and rigidity.

Add a bit of cornstarch so that the dough does not stick to the base or table, and go stretching and taking off, until a thickness of about 2 millimeters.

Once the fondant is well stretched, we measure and cut with the help of a ruler and a cutter, two rectangular pieces of equal size, and another thinner as seen in the figure.

With a napkin we give volume to each side of the ties, so that when they are dry they are firm, we make a kind of "S" in each union to give the desired shape, and stick, if they are very dry, add a little water with a brush.

We place the thin strip in the center, as explained in the figure.

Now we make the hanging strips of the bow, as shown in the figure

To finish, we paste the pieces after having left to dry for about 8 hours so that they were more rigid when handling them, I recommend cold environment, the heat damages them.

Now ready to be placed anywhere on our cake, I made a model to simulate a cake.

And finally I go with my assistants the "mini-creators" of designs, the children are the ones who enjoy the most when we do any trade and if it is edible much better for them
