Little Birdy for the Learn to Draw Challenge!
@tonyr is having a challenge where you have to draw one of the three images provided only in pencils/coloured pencils. It's meant to be a fun challenge where you practice art in a more traditional sense and also helps you progress and learn from others! This is especially useful for me as I almost exclusively draw and paint digitally and it has been ages since I picked up a pencil. It really made me appreciate how easy digital is as you can start working with less forethought and change things later.
Here are my steps (apologies that the white balance on my camera was a bit kooky!):

The white highlights are done using the sharp edge of my eraser, just to add a little contrast back in.
As you can see in the first image I did not have any coloured pencils so I imported the image into painter and added a little splash of watercolour, I couldn't resist, but I'm pretty proud of my self for doing this nifty little pencil sketch and it was really fun to smudge the pencil around. It's nice to get your hands dirty once in a while!

Awesome process of work post Julia! This is exactly what @tonyr was hoping for when he started his contests, to get people involved and coming together to support and show others how they work so they can learn from it.

Nice job! I love drawing although I am still a novice. I have fallen in love with digital art and creating. I found you through a post about new Steemit users. I'm trying to connect with newer users who produce quality content because it is so hard to find. I upvoted as well.

You should definitely try it out, its open to all skill levels and it explicitly says in the post you can post on behalf of your kids too! I'll go check out your stuff :) Also I released an original music video last night that didn't get many eyes on it, check it out if you like weird music, its called dreams so deep!

Lol that's true! Although digital smudge and contrast came from the physical act just like copy and paste so it works both ways ^_^
