Possibly, it is one of the most sought after works by art lovers in general and by all those who visit the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, in particular. Work of Domenico Ghirlandaio, a reference of that excellent Florentine school, which saw the greatest geniuses of the Renaissance grow, like Leonardo and Michelangelo, this artistic reverie, dated in the year 1488, surprises by the delicacy of the stroke, the expressiveness of the lady in question and the extraordinary realism, displayed in a multitude of details.

But above all, overwhelms the tender and sad love story that is hidden behind the protagonist, deceased, it is thought, before reaching the age of twenty. They say, although here perhaps we touch the limits of reality to enter the land of shadows of the legends, that her husband, Lorenzo Tornabuoni, entrusted it to Ghirlandaio and that he placed the left arm of the unfortunate Giovanna in such a way, that will form an L, the initial of his disconsolate husband Lorenzo.

Posiblemente, sea una de las obras más buscadas por los amantes del Arte en general y por todos aquellos que visitan el Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza de Madrid, en particular. Obra de Domenico Ghirlandaio, referente de esa excelente escuela florentina, que vio crecer a los más grandes genios del Renacimiento, como Leonardo y Miguel Ángel, ésta ensoñación artística, datada en el año 1488, sorprende por la delicadeza del trazo, la expresividad de la dama en cuestión y el realismo tan extraordinario, desplegado en una multitud de detalles.

Pero sobre todo, sobrecoge la enternecedora y triste historia de amor que se oculta detrás de la protagonista, fallecida, se piensa, antes de cumplir los veinte años. Dicen, aunque aquí quizás rocemos los límites de la realidad para entrar en la tierra de sombras de las leyendas, que su esposo, Lorenzo Tornabuoni, se lo encargó a Ghirlandaio y que éste colocó el brazo izquierdo de la desafortunada Giovanna de tal forma, que formara una L, la inicial de su desconsolado esposo Lorenzo.
