Some Of The Most Amazing Fountains And Sculptures From Around The World.

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!

I started looking at water fountains and sculptures yesterday and found so many great ones that I wanted to do another post so here it is.

This first one is a massive, 14 ton masterpiece of engineering created by artist David Cerný and is located in the Whitehall Technology Park in Charlotte, NC, U.S.A.

This giant head is composed of stainless steel plates that rotate 360 degrees and eventually come together to form a correct version of a human head.

These photos are from the website thisiscolossal.com and the name of the sculpture or statue, not even sure what to call it, is Metalmorphosis. Check this out:

I think that's an amazing engineering feat, I'd love to see the schematics of that thing.

Next up is an unusual inverted fountain designed by William Pye for Seaham Hall in Sunderland, England. It's made of a transparent acrylic cylinder filled with water flowing in a circular movement, which forms an air-core vortex in the center. Can't throw no coins in this fountain though.

There's also one in Brazil:

This is one of the most natural fountains you'll ever see, located in Innsbruck, Austria. This is called the Swarovski Fountain and is located at the Swarovski company which makes crystal, glass and jewelry.

That face reminds me of those old Stonehenge guys in England.

Look at this simple design but it's so clever. This is in Valencia, Spain and known simply as Water Boat Fountain:

Of course I gotta include the Magic Faucet, there are quite a few of these in different counties, we even have one in Wisconsin, U.S.A. This one here is in Spain.

An optical illusion fountain, I love these things. A clear plastic pipe runs up the center of the water flowing out of the faucet, continually feeding it and the turbulent action of the water flowing out hides the pipe.

Let's switch to sculptures

I found this one to be quite intriguing. It is called The Hand Of God and is located at the Hakone Open Air Museum in Japan:

Here's a powerful sculpture called The Force Of Nature by Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn. I thought it was a theme attributed to the strength of the female spirit but instead it's a series of sculptures that are supposed to remind us of the power of mother nature or some such thing.

I like my idea better. Women afterall, make the world go around!

And speaking of women, how about a giant woman bathing in the lake? lol. Check out this sculpture in Hamburg, Germany called The Bather.

howdy c-squared and thank you so much for the upvote and for helping so many people, God bless you!

One of my favorite things is moving water -- it affects everything from where I hang out in downtown San Francisco and where I go to eat (there is a gorgeous fountain by my favorite fast food spot) to how I think about the music I arrange and compose. So, I really enjoyed the fountains in this post, and imagining both visually and musically what they are like in motion. To me, each fountain has different kinds of music around it ... the sound of the water I imagine gives me different keys and movements in mind. My favorite is the waterboat fountain in Valencia, Spain -- should ever go there, I will spend plenty of time enjoying it. Thanks for opening my horizons!

Howdy deeanndmathews and welcome to steemit! That's a connection that I never considered before, between water flow and music, that's very interesting! You compose and sing too, what kind of songs do you sing?
Hey, nobody eats Kiwis with their skin on! come on, get real! lol.
So nice to see you here, I wish you much success and thank you for reading and commenting!

Ha ha @janton the joke is on you, that is the ONLY way I eat kiwis :) @deeanndmathews is one of my fav new posters here, you absolutely have to check out her series of posting on a new arrangement she is working on for the old spiritual Deep River, it is awesome and touches on some of the same themes as far as the relationship between water and music :)

Howdy carlgnash! Well that is a new one on me! lol. About the kiwis I mean. Now I'll have to try that myself.

So interesting to hear about @deeanndmathews and that classic old spiritual, I will indeed check those out, thanks
so much for the recommendation!

I should add that I love tart things, and if you don't love tart then kiwi with skin on may not be your cup of tea. To me, a peeled kiwi is just too bland. The skin gives it a little bit of tart when you bite in to balance out the bland sweetness, plus the texture is more appealing to me than the mushy interior without the skin :)

Howdy again carlgnash! Oh I see, that makes alot of sense and those things ARE a mushy mess when you have to peel them! lol. It's definitely worth a try and thanks for the clarification about it!

Really amazing and very creative minds!

Thanks for sharing @janton

Howdy there supernova! I agree, I have no idea how people come up with these things and how they build them is beyond me but they're geniuses! Thanks so much for reading and commenting.

Love this!!! So much creativity

Howdy sir blewitt! yes sir, it's like the fabulous sculptures in your shop, you just stare at them and admire their creativeness and skill!

That's some wild stuff. I really like a few of those... the Water Boat fountain and the Magic Faucet are both very cool! I think the giant woman in the lake should be made to move on occasion. Just have the head turn and look around. Maybe blink... it would really freak people out! :-)

haha! yes sir Keith, that lady in the lake, especially at night could be very freaky! Thanks, I had a good time looking at lots of cool fountains for this one.

Haha janton, how very entertaining. You must be really enjoying this research! I know that I would be!

howdy angiemitchell! oh yeah, it was a blast looking at so many great fountains and sculptures, hardest part was picking which ones to show, so much talent out there.

Impressive! Very creative. I like the first one most.
You will be happy to hear that I haven't seen these before!

really? you haven't seen these? lol. yay, total surprise, I like that.
That first one is totally bizarre but so cool! That's one of my very favorites too.
That would take advanced engineering as well as artistry.

I've never been much for those crazy statues, but I like that green guy. And what can I say, I'm a sucker for a naked lady sculpture ;)

haha! howdy ginnyannette! That first one with the shifting parts is too abstract for you? But the green guy and the naked lady are cool. I agree. I guess there's supposed to be two naked ladies with the bather in the lake. I think the lady spinning the world around should stand for the power of women don't you? The world stops without women! At least the human race on it does.

Ha, true. Actually, the world would stop without men too.

I have a bunch of nudes I've painted hanging in my house. I like the female body, despite being attracted to men.

oh that's..very different. lol. are they realistic or abtract?

Lol. I thought you might think that.

They are realistic. There isn't just nudes though. I actually have more faces than nudes. I like to paint women.

ok..you mean you like to paint images of women on paper or canvas right?

Yes I paint with acrylic.

yes but you paint on canvas or something right? I mean you don't actually paint females? Because that's what it sounded like. lol. here's that Expansion sculpture in case you don't make it to my post or don't have time. I think since she is in a meditative pose she is expanding her consciousness?

Ahhhh.... I see it now..... Sculpters, or Fountains...... They look the same to these tired old eyes and burned out brain cells.

I just scrolled on in and right back out thinking it was the same post..... but now i will check it out with the One eye that will still focus.

If i could only make good money working a normal 8 hr. day like normal people...... But "NO" I gotta be hurry hurry hurry 16 hours a day.

7 more weeks of the big repair loan payment. 《《S E V E N 》》 more......

haha! Hey sir krazzytrukker you ain't supposed to be makin me laugh at stuff like that! Your burnt out brain cells and such. Are you usually working 16 hour days? Most of that is actual driving time? Another hilarious meme too!

I count my awake time. It is ALL WORK when your away from home.

From the time I wake up out on the road it is WORK 2 me. As the "Trucks Owner" am I ever really not at work.

Posted using Partiko Android

haha! howdy sir krazzytrukker! so true about what you said and so true about what the meme says! lol.
Did you pick up those cabinets yet?

Rollin out soon, they will not release pre loaded trlr till 6pm.

Posted using Partiko Android

Howdy sir krazzytrukker! What does that mean, they won't release? You have to go there, load up and wait till 6pm?

That's a cool sign that truck has, I like the mud flaps too.
Did you ever see that Jean Claude Van Damm video advertising Volvo trucks? The Epic Splits video?
I was as much impressed with the professional drivers as I was with him after I saw a video about the making of
it.

Do you really think a Big Star like Van Dam is gonna put himself in harms way.?

Body Doubles or CGI.

They do amazing things with the CGI these days.....

Me.... photoshop.... lol

Posted using Partiko Android

haha! love that professional photo shop job! lol.
About Van Damm though, I assume you saw that ad?
anyway I saw them talking about making it and they didn't use CGI,
it was all the real thing. Unless they're all lying about it but I think that
would have gotten out. No, I was so impressed with the truck drivers.

So you have to wait until 6 pm to leave and then where to you go?
