Oil Painting on Wood Panel - "Cypress Hill" - Original painting by JVO
"Cypress Hill"
Good day friends! Today I wanted to share a painting I did when I was in my senior year of college. I was taking a painting studio class where we had to complete 1 painting a week based on a theme and 2 oversize 4'x5' paintings in the semester. It was quite a challenge as I had two illustration classes, two art history classes, and portrait painting - so there was a TON of output happening all very quickly - lol. I really enjoy brush work and strokes, the impressionists are definitely among my favorite genre of artists and I have always been extremely drawn to the work of Van Gogh. Since a child he was an art hero to me - I loved his vision.
This piece was painted on a 9"x18" piece of 1" thick wood panel using Acrylics as a base and oils.
I hope you guys enjoyed seeing o of my older paintings. This was given to a very good friend who just had to have it, it was one of her favorites from my work done at that time so it now lives with her!
There's only 1 more day until Christmas EVE! I have so much baking to get done today - another reason I am keeping my post a bit short and to the point! I am planning to make snickerdoodles, oatmeal raison chocoloate chip, oatmeal raison and chocolate peanut butter chip cookies! Wish me luck - that's a LOT of cookies y'all.
I love it. It's nice when we give our work to friends, because then we can visit it as well as the friends :)
YES! And it always feels good when a friend is head over heels in love with something you do - its that excitement that helps to fuel the passion to keep creating! <3 Thank you for stopping by @donnadavisart! I am heading over to your blog to see what you have been up to!
I really like the soft features of this painting and particularly love the sky in this painting. The blues are wonderful! Very nice!
