Why Steemit is the Premiere Environment & Tool for Artists 1: Easy CatalogingsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hello all! I'm back from my trip to Korea, finally beating the jet lag, and wanted to start off with a series that my friends and other creatives have been asking for – how creative professionals can/should be involved with Steemit. After much discussion and thought, I'll present quick tips that are all aimed to engage artists and present it as a useful tool that can amplify the creative process.

Cataloging is one of the more difficult and tedious aspects of being an artist. Technically, it isn't actually part of the 'creative process' so it quickly turns into a necessary evil in many of our minds. This includes -

1- Organizing visual or other forms of documentation
2- Attaching archival details (title, dimensions, media, date)
3- Establishing a system so you can search and source the material you need quickly

But posting your work regularly in a certain way on Steemit, you can streamline the process of keeping all your work organized in one place. Here are some tips that can support your art career while sharing your work with the Steemit community -

1- Add keywords and dates to each post so that they may be easily searched up in a Steemit search bar, i.e. 'painting' and '2017'
2- When presenting a piece or series on Steemit, try to follow a gallery or museum format of description. That way, when you need written explanations for a show or otherwise, you're a quick search away from a copy-paste solution.
3- Link all your images from high-res databases such as Google docs or IMGUR. This will save you the headache of scouring your computer folders every time you need an image for a publication or website.

Great advice! Cataloging here is so valuable. There are lots of in-the-moment aspects of an artistic process that can so easily be lost and forgotten. Thanks for this and looking forward to more ideas here. (Plus I really dig that example ;)

Great ideas and tips to share.

Thank you! I certainly hope they're helpful.
