Cough, splutter...I am still alive.

Ok, the picture is a slight over exaggeration - but it goes some way toward explaining my recent absence. I cough, I splutter, and I sneeze....lots. Hence why I have not posted these past two days.
To cheer me up, my beloved revealed yesterday that she had bought me a gift with the money she got for selling her old phone (old as in last year's iPhone). You see, I have a Surface Pro 3 and I used to enjoy digital sculpting on it with Zbrush. That was until I woke up one morning to find that it overheated overnight while charging and cracked the screen. Knowing I want to get back to playing with Zbrush, my other half ordered me a pen tablet monitor. It arrived today.

Ugee HK1560
I just about managed to unbox it and plug it in. The display is superb - a very crisp 1080p 15.6 inch screen. It came with all the cables it needed, two rechargeable pens with 2048 levels of pressure and a funky half hand glove thing to avoid streaks on the monitor while I draw.

Half hand glove thing
I calibrated the screen - by hitting nine dots with the pen - and tested out the pressure sensitivity. I have never used a Wacom Cintiq, but I am over the moon with this. It has a little lever on the back you pull up to adjust the angle of the stand, then let go. Very sturdy and easy to get the display in a comfortable position to draw. Here it is set up and testing Modo, with my Millennium Falcon model loaded.

The monitor does not have express keys like a Cintiq does, so I use that thing to the left of the drawing monitor, a Razor Orbweaver. You can program all the keys and switches to keyboard shortcuts for whatever program you are in. It takes up way less room than a full keyboard. I originally bought it to play Elite Dangerous, but it's handy for things like 3D programs.

Once I have remembered how to use Zbrush and gotten used to this tablet display, I will start posting some digital sculpts. Back to my sick bed...

I've been using wacoms for yearsssssss and I also have (had) a fujitsu tablet machine like your screen which i used for rotoscoping and painting..we have a cintiq but to be honest it's too big for my liking.. i quite fancy what you've got here. I could easily plug it into my xps ? please advise, how much and where from ! happy claymodelling 100% upvote for the weird art factor
She bought it from Amazon, not sure how much, but she did say there was a voucher for some money off. Search for Ugee HK1560.
I won't be tacky & give you the price tag for your gift, but if anyone wants the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_ss_i_0_7?k=ugee+hk1560&sprefix=ugee+hk
Anyways, way way awesome gift. I'm the happy for you jealous. When I was in the land of computer having I was just starting to fall in love with Zbrush. I'd gotten one of those cheapy Wacoms & even that was awesome so really, yay! At least I think that's the right software I'm thinking of. Textures & details baked into the render options?
Anyways, that's a great gift & sounds like your partner is thoughtful & awesome. Grats to you both! Love that she got a gift that vastly upgrades your quality of life & supports your passion. Sounds like a keeper in my book. :)
Oh & double jealous on the Razer mouse. I had headphones that lasted so long I may try & repair them. That mouse looks like a beauty. I have an old one I won in a Blizzard (World of Warcraft)/Mountain Dew giveaway ages ago & she's still going strong. I assume. Haven't used devices beyond a phone in ages. :P
I had a look ! it's a decent price, not that I'll spoil your present and tell you how much it was.. look forward to hearing a full review when you've had a good play with it.. mention me if you do so I can have a scoop :)
Your thumbnail image cracks me the hell up. LOL!
