3D Modeling - Imperial Shuttle - Modo

in #art7 years ago

When I first arrived on Steemit I decided that I would post about my hobby, 3D modeling. I have not done much of it of late as I got caught up with MinnowSupport, moderating PALnet and writing fiction. I have missed tinkering in 3D and decided to continue work on a model of an Imperial Shuttle from the Star Wars movie franchise. This is what it is supposed to look like.

My software of choice is The Foundry's Modo. I actually began this model three months or so ago. The shuttle has always been a favourite of mine, with its elegant design and folding wings. This is where I was at previously.

As you can see the major landmarks are there, although much work remains to be done on the wings. It's also missing the wing mounted guns, detailing on the fuselage and landing gear.

I decided to start at the rear of the ship as there are a lot of little details that need be added.

I started work on the rear gun and the surrounding paneling.

I then did a quick render in Keyshot of the front and rear of the shuttle.

Another, closer up.

I shall continue work on this in the coming weeks. I hope you will enjoy watching the progress.

Please share progress, Thanks so much for awesomeness @gmuxx on steemit ♨

I will try to post the next part tomorrow.

Looks pro to me ! :^)

Bad. Ass.

The time it takes to do this stuff is incredible, even to learn the tools... I, at various times try to learn a little about unity 3d but mostly the c# scripting which is comprehendable but slides from the mind like so much butter when I put it aside.
Good work, I'd like to see more
Have a good day :-)

It has been a few months since I touched Modo. I had forgotten all of the keyboard shortcuts. An hour or so in, it all came back.

I messed around with Unity for a bit but never made anything serious with it.

god damn epic precision detail. looks immaculate rendered out. I like how yo even added the ricochet laser beams off wing

Nice, the detail and work that goes into these models never fails to amaze me.

Ah that looks great so far!
Can't wait to see it textured.

Thank you Sir. I hope to do it justice.

It Looks amazing. Nice work mate.

Thank you

That is just unbelievably detailed. Makes me want to get back to Modo soooo bad. . . .

Thank you. Still a long way to go.

Well done. I can tell you've had some practice with it. I've played with 3D modeling for years, but nothing in-depth and I get so lost in the UIs. The only product I was ever able to really have any success with was Caligari TrueSpace 4. The UI was almost made for me specifically... it just made sense.

Can't wait to see updates.

Thank you.

That's how I feel about Modo. I have used all of the top software like Maya, Cinema4D and 3DS Max but only really felt at home with Modo, it just clicked in my head.

Unfortunately, Microsoft bought out Caligari's Truespace line and closed it down, so there goes any effectiveness for me. Although Mudbox was pretty fun to use and pretty intuitive when I trialed it.
