Art Discovery Contest : Australia : Artist - David Ledger
Born in South Africa David moved to Australia with his family at the age of 11.
His teenage years were in Perth Western Australia.
He is currently residing in China
David draws on his memories of South African landscape, architecture in his work.
David's work is a beautiful expression of geographical influence in Art.
South Africa, Australia and China represented in his work.
These themes he uniquely combines with a juxtaposition of surrealist geometric technicolor in a perfectly constructed psychedelic image.
David utilises only oil on canvas, and more recently silk.
These works are in no way digitally created.
Judging by the breadth, maturity and volume of his work
You would be forgiven for assuming he is a much older established artist.
If you live in Perth perhaps you have strolled by one of his murals

I really like Annunciation. You're right, I definitely thought he was older, haha!
I think Bulkhead is probably my favorite of the bunch. :)
Wow - I love this artist! He uses elements like repetition and color so well and I love all of the geometrical things he is doing. Thank you for sharing - very thorough and well written!
Thanks for reading. I threw it together really quickly. I wish I had time to do a bit more research.
I have never seen anything quite like it. It is easy to assume something this geometrically perfect is digitally created. It is entirely oil paint. Even the translucent pieces. When asked about the particular technique in which he uses oil paint to achieve a reflective semi translucency (like in annunciation), he cheekily replied, "I can't give away all my secrets."
