Art and Creativity: Portrait for @ankarlie

Part of my work to a chosen charity is to create portraits to different people who also chose to help me/ want to take part of it (as seen on one of my previous post). So, here is the second one, a portrait for @ankarlie.

As usual, I started by sketching her eye, specifically the right eye but you view it as the left. I used mechanical pencil since it is light to use and it is not that dark. It took me multiple times to come up with this since she has cute asian eyes. Basically, I am not used to making small eyes since I draw Anime a lot. I also made her brow as well.

I also started drawing her left eye and left brow as well. I made sure that the nose is proportional to the image that was sent to me. I was actually hoping and praying that the drawing will resemble her somehow.

I also drew her entire face. In tattoo, it meant that I am already done with frame, meanwhile in sketching it is called done in making the outline. Like what I said on my other art tutorial posts, I am not able to create a hyper realistic outcome.

Since I am already through with the outline, I used 5B for the hair and other parts of the face. Meanwhile for shading other areas, I used 2B.

As you can see, I shaded her hair and then below the neck for shadow softly so that I would come up with variations of shades. I also added emphasis on the portion near her eyes so that my sketch would be appealing to look at. I kept repeating the same thing and so I am through.

I will basically recreate this because I just realize that I need to have a lot of attempts to comeup with a portrait that will really resemble the person.
