For this new content I made several illustrations that I did while feeling anxious, illustrating is something that really calms me and I wanted to put a lot of enthusiasm into this post, the illustrations were made with pencils and markers, while illustrating animals that go through different anxious states of a creative way, I hope that everything you see in this post is to your liking.

Without much more preamble, let's start!:

"Hiding or suppressing anxiety produces, in fact, more anxiety"

Okay, I really did not know how to start this publication, but ... do you think you're prone to anxiety? Because I am quite prone, for various reasons, I will describe it my way, for me anxiety is a feeling of suffocation. Sometimes it comes with all its strength and sometimes more tenuous, but in none of its versions is a pleasant feeling. Anxiety can be generated by worries, stress, factors that influence work, sentimental or social life, each person who suffers anxiety often presents it in different ways, some express it verbally, others with actions and others prefer that they remain in their minds and do not externalize this feeling and everyone has the right to live with their anxiety the way they want, but we must not forget that this is part of a mental disorder that should be treated by professionals.

Friends, we are all prone to go through moments of anxiety, the bad is when this becomes the problem that unites other disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic, phobias, irregularities in social life, among others, so it is not good to think of anxiety as something temporary, when this feeling begins to arise regularly. Let's begin to see anxiety as something serious, for this I quote a brief description below:

Friends, it is a response of involuntary anticipation of the organism in front of stimuli that can be external or internal, such as thoughts, ideas, images, among others; that are perceived by the individual as threatening or dangerous, and are accompanied by an unpleasant feeling or somatic symptoms of tension.

Feeling anxiety from time to time is normal. However, some people who have anxiety disorders often feel intense, excessive and persistent worry, and are fearful for all situations of daily life. Often, anxiety disorders manifest themselves with repeated episodes of sudden feelings of intense anxiety and fear or terror that reach their maximum in just a few minutes (panic attacks).

Having already understood what anxiety is, I will precede to tell you a little about my case...

Since my childhood I am able to have a thousand ideas at the same time and not carry out ANYTHING, or on the contrary, think of a thousand ideas and try to do everything at once, I do not like that they impose a thought on me and I like to exploit my understanding , I like to know and create, freedom of expression should be a priority, although in these times this right has been a bit opaque, I usually change my mind from one minute to another, "What I thought yesterday was good, today I do not think it's right anymore." My mind is disastrous and it even scares me.

My art is usually directly related to my emotions, I started drawing from when I was very young, it was my exit for everything, if I felt badly drawn, if I felt good, I drew, nowadays that has not changed so much, I have started to handle my anxiety problems through drawings, I think creativity is a very good thing and can take you to incredible destinations. I often lose patience easily, I have never been able to comply with routines or schedules beyond the schedules and routines imposed by the school and the university. On many occasions I do not know how to identify my emotions and I find it difficult to express them, I declare myself an emotional incompetent ... but ... I like that the people that surround me and form part of my environment feel good, it is gratifying.

To continue with this boring argument, I took the task of making a series of illustrations to describe my state, like this fox that you see here, which seems to have a psychotic episode, but it is really is how I feel when anxiety surrounds me. I feel a strong despair and it's like my mind is cloudy, but ... I know I have to maintain control and it's really something I like, but it's difficult ... and art can be a way out, true?
Friends, I think the suffering of anxiety is not pleasant or pleasant, but it can be focused in a positive way and it is at that moment that something bad becomes a positive thing.

And there are times where that anxiety becomes something that surpasses me and they give me the chance to listen to Heavy Metal and Punk all day, I would say that it is something super therapeutic, it is those moments where my mind goes to 1000 and I think many things that can or not being related to each other ... and sometimes I wonder: why does my mind react in this way to anxiety? What complex or not?.

Sometimes the anxiety attacks differently, I can feel vulnerable, very vulnerable and I would like to hide and stay in that place for a while ... Even so I feel calm, I see myself in peace, it frustrates me when my drawings do not go as I want, but .... hey, my anxiety is not due to the fact of not finishing a drawing, my anxiety is due to different affections and anyone can suffer from this for different reasons and it is not at all good to minimize the discomfort of the other, I think you have to add and not subtract, maybe a good gesture can help a person with anxiety.

It is important to pay attention to the symptoms to prevent the person suffering from them from suffering more severe crises.

Anxiety disorders are very common and there are effective treatments. With proper treatment, people who suffer from it can learn to manage and better control their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

There are several types of anxiety disorders among which there are important differences. The most common are:

  • Generalized anxiety disorder
  • Panic disorder
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Social phobia
  • Agoraphobia
  • Specific phobia.

All the disorders mentioned above are, in fact, very strong for those who suffer them, but they can be treated by health specialists and, therefore, improve their quality of life. In my case, I have learned sequentially to better manage anxiety, identifying the factors that generate it and taking these factors to find an adequate solution. With this publication, I do not seek to provide a solution for all anxious people, but rather to talk a little about myself and at the same time create awareness about this common and underestimated disorder, which some take it to the extreme, while others They know how to handle it better. I'm not a psychologist, I just like to talk about topics that attract me and illustrate them.

Dear readers, we all have problems, we can all be victims of frightening stress, we can all feel anxiety reading this post, but we also have the power to change, take the first step and identify the factors that cause us anxiety. Not all of us will improve at the same time or we will act in the same way, they will all change and heal at their own time. And if you do not have anxiety and someone close to you if you have it, treat it well, you will appreciate it. Not everyone reacts the same to an improvement, some people express their great improvement and others simply take a tea.

This post is valuable for so many reasons! There are things that need to be said, or even better, heard. To raise awareness about subjects like this is a must. Why are we supposed to hide what we feel, or be embarrassed by it? I struggle with depression, anxiety and panic attacks myself, so it was touching to read your words and get to see how you express the hard times. I believe that illustrating, or any form of art, can be a great escape valve for all the pressure we tend to store. You've done that beautifully!

This post was nominated by a @curie curator to be featured in an upcoming Author Showcase that will be posted in about 12 hours on the @curie blog.

NOTE: If you would like us to NOT feature your post in the Author Showcase please reply, or DM me on Discord as soon as possible. Any photos or quoted text from your post that we feature will be properly attributed to you as the author.

wowww, it's exciting, it's a pity that I saw this comment late :(, but it's really an honor to appear in Author Showcase, I'm very excited about the nomination and have been taken into account, thank you very much !, I really, totally agree. On the other hand, this publication was made with a lot of love, I wanted to transmit my emotions through all the resources I could use in this post, again. Thank you so much for your support!

You're still on time, for a few more hours :)

Well, I'm really grateful for the support and the possibility of being present in your Showcase, I do not have much more to add, I think I expressed everything I wanted through the publication. A thousand thanks, I feel super enchanted with this. Good vibes!

Excellent, I'll make sure to showcase your post in the best possible way :)

Good vibes!

Same to you <3

Thanksssssssss <3 <3 <3

Thank you for sharing such a personal post. I believe we need to talk about all kinds of mental disorders as they can't be seen on the surface and then others start judging those who already suffer just because they don't understand what is wrong with them. And such approach is not right as it might make the situation even worse. I truly believe that people don't want to hurt anyone. If they do so it is because they don't understand and try to solve the situation in the best way that they can. I find it important that people having anxiety issues shares them openly so that we know how they feel.

You did a detailed analysis of your feelings. I'm glad that you learned how to kind of manage your anxiety and increase the quality of your life. It's crucial to realize that there is something wrong and work towards improvements.

You say that one day you believe that something is right and the other day you change your opinion completely. Or that one day you have so many ideas and don't do anything with them and other time you do everything at the same time.. I see myself there as well :) Sometimes I just don't understand my mind and have to take some time alone to put everything in place again :)

Thank you for sharing! I can imagine that it wasn't that easy for you to do it. Oh, and your art is cool! I like all those special effects :)

Thank you for your great comment, I'm glad that you liked my publication and that you felt identified is a "bonus", hahahaha, really the article I started writing a day in which I felt an intense anxiety and it cost me to finish it because I did not know very good how to approach the subject. However, I simply started to illustrate and that was when the ideas came up. The human being is highly changeable and it is normal to feel this way from time to time, I wanted to make this post as detailed as possible, to show a little "piece" of my person. I really appreciate your support! <3

I can imagine that writing and illustrating is helping you as well so just keep going :) There is always light at the end of every tunnel :)
