Digital sculpture "Double visage"

in #art5 years ago

Double vise comp ok final.jpg

Artwork of a digital sculpture created in Zbrush.
Please take a look at the insane level of details that is possible to achieve with the technique of 2.5d pixol.
Like a pixel, each pixol contains information on X and Y position and color values. Additionally, it contains information on depth (or Z position), orientation and material. This technique is similar in concept to a voxel, another kind of 3D pixel.(from Wikipedia).

Here are some close up details.

The amount of detail is amazing on close up. You can pass up each portion of the piece as a single piece and I don't think anyone would bat an eye. This one as a whole just spells out awe.

Thank you very much dear staff of @c-squared

This is amazing, the detail shots can be awesome pictures on their own. Very interesting technique, are the pixols created in groups with random variations? Reminds me of tesselation in a way, enhancing details on a surface as you zoom into it.

Dear nyarlathotep first of all thank you for your comment.
Concerning the pixols and the 2.5 d concept they are quite different from tesselation (that is present in the last versions of Zbrush under the name of Sculptris Pro http://pixologic.com/features/sculptrispro.php).
In my opinion pixols are one of the most creative stuff of cg art! There are also some limits, for example the resolution isn't infinite...at the end they are "simple"pixels with information about depth and material. It could be fantastic is some day someone will created procedural pixols!

Dear staff of @artzone thank you very much for your post about my artwork!

What a beautiful digital sculpture, and this structure remind me about creepy stories of people who are born with two faces. Well done :D.

Hello @scrawly and thanks.I suggest you to stay tuned and you will see more artwork..also with three heads! :)

I wish this old dog (me) could learn new tricks. This is amazing! Occasionally I doodle around with digital stuff on a superficial level, but I am largely 'unplugged' - having developed my own set of tricks with drawing.

Dear @thermoplastic thank for your comment!I am happy that you like my artwork.Stay tuned for more and more!
