Just something trippy to look at & get lost in. I love how optical illusions mess with perspective & sometimes trick your mind into seeing something that is not there.

Sara Nader

What did you first see in the picture? A saxophonist or the face of a woman?

The psychologist Roger Shepard developed this optical exchange in 1990 and called it 'Sara Nader'. The name comes from the woman's name Sara and the word Serenade. They are almost identical but mean different things.

This simple graphic reveals several views. What can you discover?

On the one hand, it is a picture of a whirl, in which it is almost impossible to see only the circles and not the cube.

On the other hand, a cube is visible. The cube can be inverted, because our eyes cannot see which side of the cube is closer to us. It either looks like we are standing in front of it, or from another perspective (try blinking) looking down from the top.

The best part of this image is that there is not even a cube in it. We are tricked into we supplement the red lines on the white circles into a cube - joining the dots in our mind. The cube is never really there.

Zum einen handelt es sich um ein Vexlerbild, bei dem es fast unmoglich ist, nur die vorhandenen Kreise und nicht den Wurfel zu sehen. Andererseits ist der Wurfel ein Inversionsbild, da sich uunser Auge nich eitscheiden kann, welche Seite des Wurfels uns naher liegt.

Zudem bieten sich zwei Sichtweisen auf den Wurfel an: Entweder steht er vor den wiessen Kreisen oder er befindet sich in einem weissen Raum, in den mach durch 'Löcher in einer roten Wand' schauen kann.

Und das Schonste an alledem ist, dass in der Grafik gar kaein Wurfel vorhanden ist. Wir erganzen in unserer Wahrnehmung die Andeutungen auf den weissen Kreisen zu einem Wurfel. So wird uns lediglich die Illusion eines Wurfel vermittelt.
