Drawing Hair in Human Portraits By EdgarsArt

in #art7 years ago

In this post i wanted to point out a little bit how i am drawing hair. Mostly i am using the same technique but of course it depends on the length of the hair, and theres is a difference in drawing male of female hair.
Here in particular i choose a male from one of my recently finished portraits. Mostly i am working with only 2b pencil. In the second picture you can see how i am getting that contrast. I am coloring some places darker, drawing some strong hard strokes, and you cant really make mistakes here. Dont worry about pushing too hard and damaging the whole thing. The stronger and darker those strokes will be, the better.
Those dark spots are very essential because it will look like in real life when the hair bends, or the light shines on them.
I have seen some drawings where people are drawing hair with just the same shape and no contrast. It looks unrealistic and will never look real. Nobody has the same texture everywhere. In some places they are bended, or the light shines on and that is just the texture of hair.
