Entering a contest - putting me to the test again.

It has been already 1 year and a half since the last time I entered a competition, wow those memories, I also remember that I got frustrated a lot in these contests for unnecessary things.

This is a competition that sometimes people do on the DeviantArt. Participating in competition is a fun way to socialize, as well as to test your skills.

Although I have participated a few times, I have always tried to learn as much as possible from each experience.

Well, let's put my skills to the test again. This time, one of the contests that interested me the most was one from a user called KibaRoark. She gave options with various types of characters; and as almost always, these competitions are about to see who draws better one of the original characters.

The design that I liked the most was this little friend:

His name is Dorian, a very romantic boy, quiet, elegant and who likes to read novels of tragic love.

After every experiences, I have learned that it is good to keep not only a clean and polished technique, but also a good composition (this adds many points) with an interesting as well as original theme among the participants.

Speaking with her, I found out that what she liked most about him was his tails and his love for Shakespeare's novels. Since, as I said before, the concept is something very important, I wanted to make something that she would like about this character.

Among a couple of ideas, the one I liked the most was that of this dear friend doing one of the most famous "scenes" of Shakespeare, once with the concept and the composition, I put myself to work.

Ummm, it would be nice to keep that expression of love or passion. I must as well admit that in this stage the background were not planned, I focused more than everything on the character itself.

I liked the final result, it took me almost a week (but why my works have to often take almost a week?) And I put out to test many of the things that I have learned from books and classes, I think if it has been a great improvement in recent years.

Painting or eating that is the question. (nebai is the username i use in the rest of my social networks)

I got the second place. Yes!!!, I won’t have to sell my last kidney to eat next month :D; plus one more job for my portfolio, two birds, one stone :3

Remake my old draws.

Testing what I have learned has left me with an idea ... seeing my old draws I thought, what if I make any of these again? I can make a post with several of my childhood draws, so you can choose which one you would like me to make again. What do you think? I would like to hear you guys.
