Personal Artwork 2005 - 2007
I would like to start off by documenting some of my older work. I've always been a fan of 70s and 80s art and culture. Some of my biggest influences are Patrick Nagel, Stanislaw Fernades, Pater Sato to name a few.
These artworks date 2005 - 2007. Back then I went by the artist handle "beta" and sometimes "betamax." For the past several years now I've been going under the artist handle of "Master Control Program." One thing for certain is I wasn't doing very much creative work in this time period. There were a few other pieces but they were sold and I was careless about documenting them. The work includes a handful of art pieces several stencil layers each spray painted on hardboard. The photos aren't that great because they were taken with a digital camera from 2000 on a low resolution. Hope you enjoy these older works.
This is Dazzle and she's one of the first stencils I ever painted. Actually it was the 3rd stencil I cut and painted. I don't know why but I always attempt the the most difficult projects right away without any previous experience in the subject. I guess I could have started simple with some 1 colour stencils, but my brain thought it was a great idea to start with several layered stencils. Oh my you are such a silly brain.
This is the 1st Version of Dazzle. I would do different versions of stencils with different colour ways and backgrounds. I think this stencil she was 11 or 12 layers on 1/4" hardboard 24"x24" 2005.
This is the second stencil I cut, this being Version 3 of Pat Benatar, 7 layers on 1/4" hardboard 18"x24" 2005. Pat you are such a babe. One of my first childhood crushes <3 <3
The Flying V Ninja Stenciled, spray painted on 1/4 inch hardboard 24 inches x 36 inches. This one of the Flying V Guitar Ninja is Version 4, 2005
The Mix Tape Ninja Stencil, spray painted on 1/4 inch hardboard 24 inches x 36 inches. This one of the Mix Tape Ninja is Version 5, 2005
Mix Tape Ninja stencils and Cans.
Jump In the Fire Version 1, 7 Layers + torn paper for fire stencils, on 1/4" hardboard 24"x24" 2007. Metallica Rules, the first 3 albums rule imo.
Super Stereo CPU, 12 Layers on 1/4" hardboard 32" x 48" 2007.
Thanks! Hope you enjoyed these older artworks :)

Thanks for participating in my Experiment 4
Oh boy thanks :)
Hello my friend
Post is great .. Thanks for sharing
I'm happy u like it. thanks!
Really dig the Ninjas. The talent and skill to create art like this is so out of my realm it always impresses me that it is possible for the mind to conceive an image then build it backwards and upside down. Great post.
awe thanks :)
Very nice work!
thank you! Lots more to come!
You do stencil!! damn nice.. Cant wait to see the progression if this is your older work!
@drpuffnstuff Yes I did. THat said I haven't done stenciling since then. Damnit a whole decade ago. About my progress. There are big gaps in it I haven't done much work considering the time that has gone by. Life gets in the way sometimes. Lots of bad times. Depression, self-doubt. Still over the next few weeks I want to continue posting older work here as it's surprising pique some interest here and sporadically sprinkle in what I'm up to now. So far this place is amazing and has breathed new life into me.
Nice! I'm a big fan of Nagel and 80's aesthetics in general and these are great!
@granturismo89 thanks!! I'm a total noobie on Steemit. Only 3 days in. This post is of really old artwork over a decade old now. I decided I wanted to post and document my older work first on steemit. Seems like it's generated some attention and I'm quite surprised tbh.
I'm checking out your music now. Noticed on your FB page 7 of my friends follow you. I do like some vaporwave I just finished listening to your Golden Tower, Dead Earth EP on bandcamp page and I hear quality. I'm quite liking it and will listen to more tonight. I'm more of the synthwave camp which I'm active in as an illustrator. I go by the artist handle as "Master Control Program."
That's crazy! I'm in a synthwave band as well called Ichi Sound. We play in Phoenix and have gotten to play with Dance With The Dead, Gost, Teel and some other synthwave acts. The scene here is still new, but growing.
Rad dude!! Victoria BC where I live is small. So we don't get much in the way of synthwave here. DWTD did play here last month so that was cool. However my friend Michael Glover aka Miami Nights 84' lives here on the island. Also Jeremy Schmidt Sinoia Caves who did the Beyond The Black Rainbow soundtrack lives in Vancouver and play here occasionally.
That's awesome! I followed you, see if you can bring some more synthwavers over to Steemit and we can start building a community here. hmu on steemchat sometime
Wonderful
Great style there. A bit Alladin Sane.
Definitely some glam rock influences which late influence the new romantic scene in the very early 80s. Thanks
