Forest Path, Acrylic on Paper, 2015

I had a lot of time on my back when I wrecked, so I had plenty of time for stippling. I do like this one, even though the top looks unfinished.

I can't say for sure if this is based on any particular forest or not. If I had to guess I would say I was inspired by the forests in Eastern Montana. I do recall being there in early Fall and there being quite a bit of red and yellow and orange mixed in with the evergreens. How do you like this one @fenngen?

You'll see a little later on an unusual pack of hikers hiking a trail very similar to this one...

I'm posting every painting I have ever done from 2014 to the present, the good, the bad, and the ugly. With an occasional photograph and sketch thrown in just to mix things up. Check back daily to see my progression as an "artist"!

Definitely more lively than the previous one! I love how the bushes just pile up at the side of the road. The colors are an absolute invitation to want to follow the path into the forest. It's amazing a scenario takes form with just small strokes of the brush... what's the name for that technique?

I think it's called stippling. But it's thick, so maybe impasto stippling?
