RE: Spicebush Swallowtail & Caterpillar ~ (WIP)

in #art7 years ago

I like it! But then I'm fond of pretty much "butterfly ANYthing," something that has been true since I was a kid. Anyway, I like the combination of pen and ink with watercolor.

After working really hard on Mr. Wednesday I needed to do a piece that makes me feel happy and peaceful. I used some of my photographs taken from my trip up the Illinois river here in Oklahoma for this painting.

Insects and amphibians have always fascinated me because they go through several transitions that don't look anything like each other.

Butterflies have caterpillar, pupa, and butterfly. But there is more! Many butterflies have several generations that specialize in one breeding season. Like the Papilionidae family, which includes the Spicebush butterfly breeds through the season, the last caterpillars to hatch in the fall put off becoming butterflies and build a cocoon wrapped in a leaf in a protected area to overwinter and become a butterfly next spring to start the cycle all over again.

thats the reason of butterflies here :) glad

I think nature is like the sun, it shines from it's own light and does not pay attention to those it touches. Nature like the sun is divinely indifferent and it's purpose is to live.
