The beauty

La belleza es una noción subjetiva del ser humano, ligada a distintos aspectos de la misma existencia humana, a menudo se interpreta esta percepción como la capacidad de interpretar alguna entidad que este en equilibrio y armonía con su entorno, y que puede provocar sentimientos de bienestar y atracción. Como se considera una experiencia subjetiva a menudo se dice que la belleza esta en el ojo del observador, y a través de las distintas culturas se encuentran estereotipos distintos de lo que era considerado belleza, por lo general se asociaba con rasgos simétricos en el atractivo facial, aunque algunas civilizaciones Prehispánicas como la Cultura Maya el Estrabismo era considerado signo de belleza. Esta obra ha sido una de las más complicadas y la que hasta ahora más tiempo me ha tomado, cerca de 90 horas trabajando en promedio 10 horas diarias durante 9 días. En este post mostraré el proceso con un detallado registro fotográfico de esta obra en la cual usé lápices de colores de marca Prismacolor y Norma.

Beauty is a subjective notion of the human being, linked to different aspects of human existence itself, this perception is often interpreted as the ability to interpret some entity that is in balance and harmony with its environment, and that can cause feelings of well-being and attraction. As it is considered a subjective experience it is often said that beauty is in the eye of the observer, and through different cultures stereotypes are different from what was considered beauty, it was usually associated with symmetrical traits in facial appeal, although some Prehispanic civilizations such as the Mayan Culture Strabismus was considered a sign of beauty. This work has been one of the most complicated and the one that until now more time has taken me, about 90 hours working on average 10 hours a day for 9 days. In this post I will show the process with a detailed photographic record of this work in which I used Prismacolor and Norma colored pencils.

El Proceso

The Process

Para empezar, el boceto inicial fue algo complicado, me dediqué a este un día entero para tratar de dibujar todos los detalles de la fotografía original, si bien fue bastante complicado, todo fue cuestión de trabajar con paciencia, desde el principio sabía que esta obra me tomaría mas de una semana así que no me sentí presionado, los primero colores los apliqué en el centro del rostro, la frente, nariz, ojos y la mejilla, luego continué con los colores de los labios con un tono mas rojizo.

To begin with, the initial sketch was somewhat complicated, I devoted myself to this one day to try to draw all the details of the original photograph, although it was quite complicated, everything was a matter of working with patience, from the beginning I knew that this work would take me more than a week so I did not feel pressured, the first colors I applied in the center of the face, forehead, nose, eyes and cheek, then continued with the colors of the lips with a reddish tone.

El Cabello

The Hair

El cabello fue lo más complicado de esta obra, ya que tenía una enorme cantidad de detalles, brillos y texturas, que variaban desde colores rojos, amarillos y blancos, hasta colores mas oscuros como marrón y negro, las tramas del cabello se encontraban en direcciones bastante aleatorias lo que dificultaba bastante el trabajo, pero le daba un toque mucho mas realista al dibujo.

The hair was the most complicated of this work, since it had a huge amount of details, brightness and textures, ranging from red, yellow and white, to darker colors such as brown and black, the hair wefts were in directions quite random which made the work difficult, but it gave a much more realistic touch to the drawing.

La piel del resto del cuerpo visible en la obra fue un poco mas sencilla de trabajar, ya que esta tenía una tonalidad mucho mas clara que la del rostro y los contraste con las sombras eran mas suaves y sutiles, acompañados de unos cuantos lunares en el hombro y el brazo. El fondo fue bastante sencillo, con tonalidades de azul y verde y algunas zonas de iluminaciones realizadas con borrador.

The skin of the rest of the body visible in the work was a little easier to work, since it had a much more clear tone than the face and contrast with the shadows were softer and more subtle, accompanied by a few moles in the shoulder and arm. The background was quite simple, with shades of blue and green and some areas of lighting made with eraser.
