Hellow steemians!

This is another project that my groupmates made last year. As future Industrial Engineers, our instructors in one of our major subjects engage us on how a production company works, let us experience the process, how to manage the time and a whole lot more. This was truly a successful and a budget friendly project. You can make this using the materials you find at home or even your throw away trashes or garbage.

WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS NEEDED?

Disposable spoons
350 mL plastic bottle (we used the nature's spring bottle)
Disposable salad cups
Battery holder
LED light
Soldering iron
Glue sticks
Glue gun
Paint
Jig

THE GATHERING OF MATERIALS

First thing we did is to collect all the materials needed for this project. We first collected the spoons. One lamp needs atleast 52 pcs. of disposable spoons and we need to produce 60 pieces of flower lamps for the whole class. So in total we need 3,120 spoons (that's a lot of spoons).
In order to achieved this, we dug out the trash bins in our school canteen for 1 week. I know it is really gross and awful but we needed to achieve our target but even though we dug out the trashbins in our school canteen looking for disposable spoons, we still didn't reach our target. What we did was we went to a junkshop and one of my groupmate has a friend working there. That particular junkshop is where the trashes in all the foods shops in SM Cebu City were thrown away. So, we asked them to keep aside a lot of disposable spoons and we'll be the one to wash it.

(this were the one we got from the junkshop near the SM Cebu and these were more than our target spoons)

We then went to a junkshop near our school to buy used boxes and nature's spring 350 mL.
One of my groupmates went to buy the other needed materials.

After we gather all materials we started immediately. We should make atleast 45 pieces of finished lamps so that in the actual production we will just attached the base and the battery holder and placed it on a box. We asked our instruction if we could just demonstrate atleast 15 pcs. Of lamp because it takes a lot of time to make one and glad he agreed to it.

Before we start the process, we first washed all of our materials since we got them from the garbage and most were in the junkshop and has really annawful smell. After it dried, we cut the stem of the disposables spoons. So what we really need is its head and it will serve as the petals of the flower lamp.

By the way, a jig is somewhat like a fixture; a fixture holds the work in a fixed location. A device that does both functions (holding the work and guiding a tool) . I made the jig myself which look is the same with the jig made for icing the cake which can be roll around and lessens hand motions.

The Process

PROCESS 1 (Attaching)

We cut the bottle by half. Then we placed them on our self made jig and attached the head of the spoons alternately using a glue gun with glue sticks.

PROCESS 2 (

After attaching the head of the plactic spoons, we then go to process 2 which is attaching the base. The base is only a disposable salad cup which is painted with black and with our group's logo. We named our group or our little production company as "LA FLEUR" Corporarion it is a french word which means "THE FLOWER". I learned french language by myself. I just downloaded a few apps for language lessons. Maybe, I can show it on my next blog. 😁

PROCESS 3

The next process would be attaching the battery holder with the LED light. We already attached the LED to the battery holder to lessen the time in the actual production simulation because it will be attached using a soldering iron. So, in the actual simulation, the battery holder is attached in the base (w/ is the salad cup) using a glue gun with glue stick.

Ft. @delran1894 He is like our elder brother in class. He was the one soldering the LED light to the battery holder. Visit his blogs also, he's also an aspiring artist, calligrapher and a photographer.

PROCESS 4 ( last process)

The last process is quality check and packaging. Quality check, where in this process, the worker will checl if there are damages to the products or if has the cobwebs of the glue sticks. The production worker assigned to this process will be the one to put each product on its box. And we are done.

As you can see, we really are happy while doing this project. All of my classmates that were in other groups were anticipating for our products since they really loved it so much. We can really say that "there is ART in TRASH"

I am really proud to have them as my groupmates and beyond honored and grateful to be chosen as their leader. We really made it into a success because of our genuine effort and dedication to this. We were happiest when all of the my classmates and instructors who recieved our project were happy and surprise for our project is really beautiful and very creative. Who would've thought that the trash you just throw away would become something as beautiful and creative as this. Just let your imagination take you over and everything that others think insignificant are very valuable to other people.

These were the other group's products which is also made out of trash.

I hope I gave you an idea on how to make something out of trash. There are a lot of ways to recycled it and not just throw ot away. You can also benefit from recycling. Not just you but other people as well and of course it will be a big help to mother Earth. Try making this product and you can sell it for a very good price and it only cost you less just a lot of your effort and perseverance in making it.

Thank u so much 😊😊

I've seen these spoon lights a few times before and I'm always amazed at just how good they look! I used to do lighting design and they honestly look as good as some of the things I used to spec for high-end offices.

It looks expensive but it really cost less. Thank you so much 😊
