A short story: Unwanted

Dialogue: „Unwanted“

Preface

The protagonist of this Dialogue is called Roman Ryan and is a famous author known for his great books. One morning he wakes up with his clone next to him.

R: Wakes up

C: Sits on Roman´s couch. Looks deadly out of the window.

R: Irritated “I think I drank one or two beers too much last night.”

C: “I´m here to learn from you. Teach me how you humans act”.

R: Gets up. What the heck?!

C: “I´m sorry, I scared you. The social concepts of mankind are still new to me. That´s why I´m here.”

R: “First of all…who are you? Secondly why do you look exactly like me? And who did you come in here?”

C: “I´m an experiment aimed to learn from mankind. My learning process will be recorded for purposes I´m not allowed to tell you.”

R: “Well…”Silent for some seconds

C: “So you´re going to help me?”

R: “Well, I guess so. You must be thirsty, do you want a drink?”

C: “Yes, please.”

R: “OK, I gotta go to the kitchen. Entertain yourself with this magazine. I´ll be back in a minute.” Hands him a magazine, then proceeds to go to the kitchen to bring a drink and grabs a pistol from a drayer,goes back to the room and aims at the clone

C: Looks up from his magazine “Is this my first lesson?”

R: “You didn´t answer my third question. How did you come here and why do you look like me?”

C: “But I told you that I´m not allowed to say that and you already agreed on helping me, so what´s the big deal?”

R: “They know I´m working on a new book which contains secret information about criminal offenses done by the government. They wanna take me out. You´re here to eliminate me, but you won´t succed.”

C: “Well,…I must confess that you are right when you´re saying that I´m here to kill you but you are definitely wrong in saying that I´m not going to succeed in my mission.”

R: “Well played, but I guess you´re totally wrong.” Pulls the trigger, nothing happens

C: “I knew you had one in the kitchen. I took out the magazine. Aside from that I knew that you had one in this room here, you had.Whips out a silver pistol with assembled silencer, aims at Roman The thing is…the only individual in this reality who was able to kill you was yourself. So they cloned me. It costed dozens of millions but they wanted to make sure that you get eliminated. Surely I would have found a better and much cheaper solution because I am literally you…but what of it?”

R: “The only person to defeat myself was me…nice concept. But one thing I´d love to know before I die…” jumps sidewards, but gets stucks at the wire of his brand new smartphone, which had been charging on his sideboard

C: Aims at him, pulls the trigger and kills him, then leaves the room and closes the door quietly, takes out his phone and dials a number

C: “Hello, Mr.Bliss?”

Mr.Bliss: “Did you complete your mission successfully?”

C: “Yes, I did. The unwanted subject has been neutralized. He will never publish his book.”

Mr.Bliss: “What the hell are you talking about? You should eliminate his twin Ronan Ryan not Roman Ryan. Roman Ryan was a more harmless author thinking he had some controversial information in his books. You are completely incapable and will be condemned of killing an innocent citizen! Stay at the house and wait for my agents! I´ll be there soon!”

C: “I cannot accept that! I just misheard you! You´re not gonna arrest me!!” Drops his phone, runs through the apartment, leaves the building and vanishes in the woods.
