For those interested in the details.....
One can many times find inspiration from artists of long ago.
Willem van Aelst is an artist of complexity and beauty.....it is the movement in his paintings that are of particular interest to bleujay. Another time we may explore his work further.....today is an introduction to the idea of examining the work of artists both of recent and past times......applying to their work the principles of art. For example their use of line and curve....which one wins?.......or their value range...close or broad?.......etc.
One of the things about sketching on the go....is that one may not be able to finish a sketch as much as one would like. Sometimes a moment is impossible to recapture for a multitude of reasons.....enjoy the moment.

Thank you for your query. The pencil used is the Prismacolour Ebony.....Jet Black...extra smooth....14420. A really lovely pencil to draw with.

Wow... A pencil is almost hard to believe, but I am not an artist as you know. Haha. Moments are indeed incredibly hard to capture, I am glad you got this one!
