After placing himself 6th in the loopstation eliminations, Ibarra had to face off against the Polish NME. He lost this battle after a good performance.
B-Art competed solely in the male solo battles, where he managed to get 3rd place (earning his spot in the top 16), after performing his elimination amongst 93 other national/continental champions from around the globe. But the Dutch Demolition did not stop there. Oh no. B-Art won the top 16 battle against the Canadian Elisii (who beat him not so long ago in a battle called the Shootout Battle), only to find himself up against the former World Champion Alem (from France) in the quarter finals (top 8). As this could have been the hardest opponent to face, B-Art showed such skill and confidence that he broke through the almost impenetrable stage presence of Alem. It shut down the whole French crowd.
We were already happy, even Bart was already more than satisfied with placing himself top 4 out of all the best beatboxers from all over the globe. But it did not stop there. He found himself winning in the Semi Final round against the 17 year old Korean Hiss. He now made himself a guaranteed finalist. In the official final round of the Beatbox World Championship 2018, he had to face off the French powerhouse Alexinho. The finals were so equally balanced, that it was hard to tell who won.
Many still argue the final decision made, but in the end, Alexinho brought the title of Official Beatbox World Champion home. We were not dissapointed at all. We were so proud of Bart's achievement, reaching the status of Vice World Champion for the next 2 years.
Top 16 Beatboxers of the world
16 professional beatboxers earned the top 16 spot, representing their own country in the battles to come. Out of these 16 competitors, 5 were French (even more in the Eliminations), 4 were USA. 2 Koreans and the other 5 beatboxers were all representing on their own: Belgium, Spain, Russia, Canada and the Netherlands. You can see how dominant the French and American beatboxers have become.
In the end, out of all 5 categories, the French won 3 out of 5 (Men Solo (Alexinho), Loopstation (Saro) and Crew(Berywam)), where as the USA won the remaining 2 out of 5 (Women Solo (Kaila) and Tagteam(Spider Horse))
So for our Dutch B-Art to get second place, was quite the achievement.
Quite the story, I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Probably one of the rare moments where I actually ''blog'' my experience of the past few days. Let me know if you would like to see more of this!
Motivation up!
