POLITICAL TACTICS

A well known fact is that politicians can be,
Acting, from time to time, quite deviously.
It’s not that they do anything especially bad,
It’s more that they just act as though they had.
Of course their reputation can precede them too,
And affect people’s judgement of what they do do!

Take, for example, support of someone they don’t want.
Open support they do happily flaunt.
“You have to get behind someone, visibly so,”
“Before being in a position to enact the political flow.”
“That is to say, show them they do lack,”
“Before you can stab them right in the back!”

Now Sebastian Cesspool had won many votes,
Had sailed the Ship of State, though in many small boats.
He’d progressed rapidly to a cabinet position,
His Political Advisor was Mentor and Physician.
Glad-handing and grinning,
Support he was winning,
When he took a courageous decision,
That hit him back with precision.

To the Prime Ministers office he was called,
The P.M and cabinet colleagues were all appalled,
“How could you have acted in such a foolish manner,”
“You have sullied our Political banner,”
“Don’t you know, courageous decisions are out,”
“And now, so are you, without any doubt!”
