so you inherit your mothers heart, your fathers mind.
i also see that if we are not careful, we accept much of their mindset and become clones of our parents. it is wise to re-examine our beliefs and decide again, for ourselves, what is right for us.

I would disagree on dad's connotation; "father gives you his brain,
and/or
literally "slices" his brain ("se davana" los sesos in Spanish) out for you, in the midst of all the troubles he goes through in order for you to live a better life --and infancy and youth-- than he ever did..."
