Thursday doodle: Jonah Lomu
Sometimes you hear a story, and you feel like you wanna make a drawing about it! There's a book entitled "the black hurricane" (available in Italian, "L'uragano nero" by Marco Pastonesi - 66thand2nd). After I heard the book's presentation, i really wanted to do a drawing about the story it tells!
This is image was made by me with a blue pencil, using a reference.
Jonah Lomu's facts
- Born in Auckland (New Zeland) the 12th of may 1975, dead in Auckland the 18th of november 2015
- Native from Tonga, grown in Auckland, he became the youngest ever All Black, at the age of 19
- In 1995 he participated to Rugby's world cup in Sudafrica, reaching the finals againts the Springboks. He changed the game forever as one of the best ever in his role. Equipped with an extraordinary speed for such a big tonnage, he was really hard to stop. He opened the way to professional rugby.
- Was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome in 1995. This had a big impact in his career. He had to stop palying several times. He had to undergo a kidney transplant.
- He was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame on 9 October 2007, and the World Rugby Hall of Fame on 24 October 2011
