The Speaking Cat. A children's poem (illustrated)
Estimados amigos, dejo para la bondad de sus lecturas una versión en inglés de un poema infantil que escribí originalmente en español. Es una versión libre, pues hay versos que no pude resolver en la nueva versión. Aún así, creo que pude conservar la sonoridad que quería.
La idea es divertirse jugando un poco al absurdo y al mundo al revés, pues este gato no desea hablar, sino maullar. El misterio es por qué se le hace tan difícil.
Le he colocado la ilustración que hice para la versión original.
Espero que disfruten de ambas.

The Speaking Cat
Mr. Cat was trying. But instead of meowing, He was speaking. He recited tongue twister verses strings, lots of puns, And even market lists. And to go in such a hurry With his rare-strange gift And therefore to practice A very sweet meow He didn't sleep. He gargled lime juice. And lots of concoctions Of brine and toad-grass Day and night he drank. And there was a little tarumba Rimbombant and stumbling. And instead of a good meow Every time he wanted to talk A volume of the dictionary He sang.
