Process:

  • (1) Draft Sketch. As you can see it is quite far from the final product, it is a sketch for a reason ;)
As long as the artist knows what he/she is doing, you should trust them truly as well :D That's why portfolio is there for you to see how they finish a certain work XD

sorry for this messy sketch

  • (2) Base Colors

  • (3) Shadow part and some rim lighting. And from this stage I slowly add details from whole down to the specific parts

  • (4) Okay, I know this kinda jump to the advance step but basically I just work on the details little by little until I get to the vision I had in mind. I fixed the anatomy, proportions and add accents. This step is close to finalizing the character

  • (5) And the finish product :)
I pushed more on the material rendering. Specular highlights, muddy colors to avoid monochromatic colors ,etc. Credits to my master who has always been there for me.

This is part of my personal project but it'll be featured in a book in Poland. I'm glad someone took interest on my character design.

Hope everything is well with you my friends!

See you again next time :)

I've seen him on so many games! You manage to draw the blacksmith dwarf really well, Adelair. He's definitely looking like he is good at what he's doing.

Lovely colours as well, you're always good at painting them nicely ^_^.

Oohhh yes yes, he is kinda generic typr of character seen on every IP. Haahah Thanks again @scrawly 😁

Hello @adelair, That's a great concept ! :D I like it. Currently I'm self-study for the Realisitc style (My style is Semi-Realistic but for some reason I have to move to the Realistic style, and I got a lot of thing to do). I have a question: Do you use the Selection tool for Coloring ?

  • Because some part in the concept that need to seperate with the other (Like color, detail, cloth) and imo, if I don't use the selection tool, to make a selection zone, then it will be hard for me due to the color might get overlay to each other.
  • That would be nice if you can take a look at my Steemit and give me some comment/advice :)

Hello @izonaka
This is how I do my layer in an illustration
03.jpg

As you can see I separate parts by parts and I am not working on a single layer only ( I was trained to do proper layering for animation purposes) So whenever I color them I will create a clipping mask so the other layers won't be affected.

I see. Thank your for the detailed reply! :D

No problem! 😁
