St. Lucia. The most mountainous of all the Caribbean Islands. Volcanic island. Oh, the natural beauty of it. Rainforests to hike through and discover another side of nature. Plunging cliffs that take your breath away. Winding roadswith hairpin turns and single wider roads. Hang on!!

I was driving through the countryside, taking in the lush beauty of St. Lucia, when I passed a banana farm and knew I had to stop for #TreeTuesday to get a shot. They have them in the blue bags to prevent black spots on them as they ripen. If a green banana rubs up against another, it will bruise. Also, they are sprayed for mites and the bag helps keep them safe from them. I am not sure how I feel about that! Technically, bananas are not even trees!! Who knew??? I just found out that they're perennial herbs.
These are typical West Indies style housing with the pretty color dotting the landscape.
Soufriere is the town that you see below the tree line. It makes a nice backdrop of the Pitons, the rainforest and the sea. Undeveloped and lightly populated, it is located in the southern part of the island. Trees are in abundance here!
Quaint little fishing village, surrounded by a forest of trees and palms and banana trees. There were boats pulled up to shore and fishing nets being dried in the sun. And the people. The people were beautiful. Simply beautiful
He lived in the fishing village and worked here, in this artists shack, which were dotted along the roadside everywhere I drove. He took out his guitar and seranaded us with his Bob Marely songs. Oh, yes! And then he showed us his artwork, as we looked down at the town. So much talent here. So little opportunity.
Villages with boats, yachts and fishing equipment. What a life, no? And TREES! There are trees all over the place!
There is a melt-off upon my arrival back home. One day a frozen tundra and the next day 70. The trees did not appreciate this. Especially my Red Maple.
#Alwaysaflower. There must always be flowers to color my world.

one is thirsty

both need water.
later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered,
"where does it hurt?"
it answered,
"everywhere"

Great photos as always! Are you doing a lot of diving as you visit these tropical paradises? You must have so many gorgeous photos in your collection.
I never knew that about bananas either. I wonder what they spray on them before they put them in the bags. I'm thinking it can't be anything healthy.
I would have enjoyed the performance of Bob Marley songs as well. There's an indoor/outdoor club near me and on Friday evenings they have a guy that performs Bob Marley songs, and he's been there literally years.
Are you back home for a while, or will you be off on another cruise soon?
Some are better than others. I think Bonaire is really the only worthy one (in my opinion) this trip, as was known before it was started. So, except for that one, it's been tried before and the answer was already known. :)
Bonaire is already on the schedule for another trip soon. As is Cozumel, which also has great diving along that coast.
I can't believe that I never knew about the bananas, or is it something they have just started. I have seen the blue bags only in the last couple of years and not everywhere. I don't even want to think about what they spray on them and my intake of bananas has gone down. Way down.
How cool about the club that has a Bob Marley singer/fan. This man was pretty cool, and I really enjoyed his impromptu performance.
Well. I do have to work, so I had to come home. I was lucky enough to have this as a combo work/play vacation, so it worked out pretty well for me. I have just arrived home and will be gone a couple of days, but, no cruising for at least two months.

Ohhhh those colourful houses and the brother to bobM wow what a peaceful scenery and i get in The holiday mood just watching your photos. I have to wonder about that plastic used to cover, that is not very inviromental but ok brushed goods arent attractive either, thanks for the tree tuesday and congrats on the community pick by phc
I do love the brightly colored houses that dot the Caribbean Islands. So tropical, peaceful and happy looking. Much like the people themselves. One cannot help but have a joyful heart when perusing the islands.

Hidden away amidst the trees, a small little village where life should be a breeze.
Alas it is not so for fishing and farming, signing and art no big industry life is hard.
If only we had money to buy that little something extra to make lives easier, the dream of many who are so poor, yet still happy and smiling.

They live in such beauty, yet poverty is abundant. Not the kind that we have, not being able to have another vacation, but more direct needs. Food, medical, shelter.
