Architecture in Warsaw 🏗
Thanks to @plushzilla, who inspired me to make a post about it, I’d like to tell you some things about polish architecture, more specific in Warsaw, the capitol :)
Here are some of my photos, that I took today and my drawing:
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about architecture in my city is diversity. There are a lot of new buildings, with glass facades like the one on my drawing, standing next to old, more classical ones. Unfortunately, there’s not many examples left of those old buildings from before the Second World War because Warsaw was almost entirely destroyed during the Uprising in 1944. However, we still have some great examples of modernist architecture, which is, I think, not appreciated enough.

Do you think modern Polish architecture is influenced much by the past, or not really because not much of it remains for people to study and compare?
I think it should be influenced more :) but everyone wants to create something that will stand out, something modern, innovative. That’s why some people say polish architecture is a mess, because it’s so mixed, but I think thats the beauty of it :D
There is a large degree of personal expression involved in many forms of art, so I guess it is not surprising that people want to create something that stands out. But what makes something modern and innovative is rather subjective, although variety and diversity is something that can be observed. What is your style of design?
Haha I don’t know, maybe I don’t have my style yet ;P I’m always trying to add as much nature and plants as possible in my projects, green facades, ivy on the walls, parks around :D
There's definitely not enough of the 'green' stuff around. I wonder how Frank Llyod Wright would have designed high rise buildings and apartments....
He is my favorite architect!!! I wonder about that too. Now I’m designing apartments with balconies with special flower pots around them, but at the same time I know that in Poland nobody would have the money to build that ;P
I think of him more as an environmental designer than an architect :) But he is definitely on everyone's list of favourite architects!
What about Bjarke Ingels of BIG? I love his innovative and bold designs but I think he specializes in extremely expensive buildings :D
I'm not really familiar with Bjarke Ingels, but thats also a problem on my university, I think, they sometimes let us do crazy, innovative buildings, but in real life no one will ever have the money to build it :P
And about Frank Lloyd Wright, I think thats whats so amazing about him, he was designing everything, the interior and furnitures in it and connecting it to the whole shape of the building :D

Awesome! Thanks! I was originally suppose to start the challenge/contest thingy like a week ago or two now, but my artist friend got too busy and couldn't draw the image. So I'm glad to hear you're up for it!
How long do you think it will take? And no worries, I don't want you to rush it, do it whenever it's comfortable and works well for you. I'm just curious about what to expect and the timeline so I can plan ahead?
It depends because you still haven’t told me what picture exactly do you want :D if you’re in a hurry then I can probably even do it tomorrow, if you can wait, then in few days :D the picture you showed in your post was with watercolors, so is it ok if I do the drawing with a pencil?
I thought I explained the idea in the link that I included? You did mention the picture in my post, so essentially.. I wanted something sort of like that. Except with little people gathered in the town square and perhaps a few walking around elsewhere in or near the castle. And then also.. I was hoping you could somehow add a futuristic or electronic or digital feel to the castle.. Like.. I sort of want it to be a computer like/internet type castle if that makes any sense, lol.
In my imagination I want the castle to represent my blog here on steemit and the people that are gathered in the town square are representing the people that are going to be participating in the contest.
Anything further than that I'm not really sure.. I would like you to put your own style and spirit into it, so I'm hesitant to say too much other than what I did above.
That's awesome you can do it so quick! However.. I can definitely wait and I would rather wait if that means the quality will be better. So yeah, take your time! :)
And yes. Please feel free to use a pencil or whichever tool/method is best for you.
I would like it if you could add some color in there? But that's not absolutely necessary. Black and white will work, and a lower quality image will work as well.. I'm not super picky.. I just want something unique, original and creative.. BUT.. More color and detail is definitely welcome! :)
Also.. If you'd like.. I can give credit to you and put a link to your blog under the image whenever I use it and maybe it can help bring more people back to your blog as well? That's up to you though!
Thanks again for working on this project! I'm super excited. :) I think this contest is going to be a lot of fun, and the artwork is going to make it feel so much more unique and original.
Ok, I think I get it, do you want me to do some sketches first, so you can see if you like the idea? :P
And one more thing, do you want it to be from birds eye view like the picture in your post or not necessarily? :D
Sure some sketches definitely couldn't hurt. But.. I'm not too worried about it.. I have a feeling you're going to do a wonderful job.
And yeah I sorta wanted it birds eye view like in the picture, BUT.. If you wanna go in a little bit closer that's cool too, though essentially I do want to give the impression we're looking down on an active sort of group of people gathered in the townsquare for this "contest" I'm going to be doing on steemit that is metaphorically represented in the picture.
I do want people to feel like they are looking down on a community of peoples who are gathering together for a contest. :) Thanks again!
