Do you see how SMALL the people are standing at the base of the building??

We were staying about 50 miles away and had no idea Kitts Peak was just down the road. If it weren't for some friends we met chatting about what to do in Tucson, Arizona. We had to pay a visit cause it's just not everyday you come across being able to visit the Largest Collection of Optical Telescopes in the world!

Here you can see our view of the desert mountains as we drove 50-minutes to the top!

Slowly, the telescopes come into view the closer we get and climb up Kitts Peak!

The clarity of the air is crystal clear...making for some amazing photos of the desert!

They have an interactive Visitors Center-great for the kids and FREE! Only at night if you wish to do a viewing do you pay!
They also have great models to explain in more detail!

Once up on top, you can walk around and tour areas of the Observatory!

A Telescope is divided by its lens size. Below you can get a visual of the different lens sizes portrayed in the photo!

We were lucky enough to get in on a tour to see the 4-Meter (Lens) Telescope! It was built in the 50's and is up for renovation next month!

As we were inside the dome continued to rotate! It was pretty awesome!
