You see that tiny house in the foreground?

That's the perfect icon for the Philippine society. It called nipa hut a type of stilt house indigenous to the cultures of the Philippines. In local terminology, we call it Bahay Kubo which literally means a cube house.

A Bahay Kubo also represents the Bayanihan spirit of Filipinos. Bayanihan refers to a spirit of communal unity. This is the same spirit we see in Steemit. The upvoting for those beautiful posts, the delegation of SP's to minnows. The whales upvoting great introduceyourself posts. The beauty of Steemit compared to other social media is its ability to foster bayanihan spirit among its members.

Let's go deeper in History

In 1850, an American Architect and Engineer William Le Baron Jenney visited the Philippines for 3 months. This is what he notice: during storms bahay kubo just dances and sways.

The flexible, light, and modular structure of bahay kubo would later inspired him to create the first ever metal-framed skyscraper in the United States, creating the first lighter building in 1879. LeBaron became known as "The Father of Modern American Skyscrapers".

It funny and amusing to think that this kind of "building" would be the model of all the modern skyscrapers in the world.
