Gem of the day: Make your lodge disappear into thin air
Hi Steemians, today I would like to show you an architectural magic to make your lodge disappear. But you would be disappointed that it is only an illusion of using mirror and glass to perform the task. In one my series in Archisteem 7: An Architecture Curation a day – Liquid Pavillion by depA, mirror wall was used to cover a small pavilion, and the reflection on the façade makes the pavilion almost vanish into thin air.
In this article, I would like to share with you a hotel that shares the similarity of the mirror pavilion, but it was built on the tree. Designed by Martin Videgård and Bolle Tham for Tree Hotel / Brittas Pensionat, Britta Lindvall, and Kent Lindvall, the structure is in Harads, Sweden, so do pay a visit here if you are passing by this awesome tree hotel a 4x4x4 meters box clad in mirrored glass.
In a close-up, the tree hotel appears to be floating among the trees and filling the gaps with the reflection of the trees. Thus gave the forest an illusion of looking more densely packed with planted trees.
In the night, only murky interior lighting will be seen from outside, this is due to the window reflect more lighting of its environment.
Spacious Interior
Based on the image above, it shows the internal structure of the tree hotel. The internal of the lightweight aluminum structure and make the building possible to be hung on the tree trunk.
Based on the images above, the interior of the tree hotel looks more spacious than you think, it was fit with a twin bed, a toilet, mini living room, and a rooftop balcony. In the tight 4m x 4m x 4m cube, the hotel utilizes it volume to lit up by natural lighting, thus eliminating the fear of claustrophobia (fear of confined space). Furthermore, bright color wood finishes help to brighten up interior lighting and due to the optical illusion, it makes a room appear to be larger color and optical illusion.
The awesome feeling is that people will barely see the lodge you are stayed at.

I believe those piping including electical wiring is hidden away underneath the bridge connecting to the tree hotel. Other wiseit will be visible on the outside. Thanks for noticing it, i never thought About that. Cheers
