Kuala Batu or Quallah Battoo (History, Life and Nature)

in #archeology7 years ago (edited)

It has been 4 days from August 13, we traveled 358 Km from Banda Aceh-Blang Pidie, on the west and south coast of Aceh on the coast of the Indian Ocean. A team of 4 people, I'm @vannour, @keuudeip, @safar01 and @abelpasai for a scientific research project sponsored by @mapesa.

The research is to detect ancient settlements and ancient ports of river estuaries on the western and southern coasts of Aceh, an area preoccupied with the spice trade of plantation products in the era of the kingdom of Aceh Darussalam in the middle ages.

Previously I have made 2 posts for this trip, please see:

Now we are in Blang Pidie, this morning had conducted a survey at Kuala Batu river estuary. Kuala Batu or Quallah Battoo, a name more familiar to Europeans in medieval times, is now in the Southwest Aceh region. Quallah Battoo was once attacked by the US Navy in 1832, under direct orders of President Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States. He issued an order to attack foreign nationals in Asia with military power by the warship Potomac. Please read my article posted 6 months ago, United States Navy attacked the western coast of Aceh.

We get a variety of important information of Kuala Batu, the most special of which is an english inscription dated 13 April 1824, ceramics and pottery, and coins.
Here are some photos in Kuala Batu.

This research on ancient ports and settlements is central to Aceh's history. Communities to know many events and historical relics that occur in Aceh.

Based on research by @vannour, @keuudeip, @ safar01 and @abelpasai sponsored by @mapesa, it is a history that was once a very important area in international trade.

Historically, Aceh was the first region in international trade and import, the first Aceh region to advance in international trade, in other parts of Indonesia.

We wait for the results of this research and this trip, we can see in Steemit, good work.

As always, research results are always shared on facebook group MAPESA
