A tragic incident occurred in 1832 on the west coast of Aceh, Sumatra island. Potomac frigates are US warships, have punished the people of Kuala Batee (Battle of Quallah Battoo). Ports and fortresses be destroyed, because its people are blamed pirating American merchant ship Friendship the pepper trade in the region.

Port of Kuala Batee, a city of international trade and the shipping industry center, located on the west coast of Aceh belonged to the kingdom of Aceh Darussalam.

A sudden attack at night, February 6, 1832, 260 US Marines under the Command William Shubrick landed in Kuala Batee then besieged fortresses. This attack did not get resistance, slaughter and arson occurred in the port city of Kuala Batee.

This incident occurred as a result of actions pirates, perhaps from the Aceh cheeky, have resulted in the destruction of the people of Kuala Batee, and tarnish the good name the kingdom of Aceh Darussalam in the international trade arena.

Flashback

Before it happened, for more than fifty years of visits of merchant ships with pacing in the waters of the Kingdom of Aceh, are not impaired, either piracy or acts that are not fair to the crew who went ashore, never heard there was an American ship hijacked by the Acehnese or seized by naval vessels Kingdom of Aceh. These practices run until 1831.

Trade relations between the Kingdom of Aceh and the United States have started in 1789. Each year gets crowded traffic of merchant ships United States to ports on the west coast of Aceh. They arrived to load the pepper which is then transported to the United States, Europe, and China.

For the record, Aceh is currently under the control of the Republic of Indonesia since 1948. At that time, Indonesia is not in the world map.

Conclusion

Readings from several sources. American merchant ship hijacking incident was the work of a Dutch merchant ship, because the pepper trade competition at ports on the west coast of Aceh.

Here we do not justify Aceh pirates, and also does not justify the attitude of America to destroy the port in Kuala Batee and punish the people there, and do not accuse the cunning of a Dutch merchant ship when it was. All that is a lesson from history, hopefully we can interpret from the incident.

I want to connect over the historical incident with has recently occurrence in @steemit. There have been some adverse occurrence #Aceh taging.
