The fact that these pieces were found in a sarcophagi indicates that who ever buried them, had a high regard for the creature they belonged to. The hand is not in proper proportion to the skull. Has it been considered that this was a mongoloid child that was born dead or died shortly thereafter. Most mutant or mongoloid children of ancient peoples were either killed or left to die. However one that died at birth was in some instances considered a family member and were buried as such. It IS unusual that only the head and a hand were found: unless it done as a kind of record of the occurrence. Just thinking out loud. The hand x-ray gives indication that there may have been other fingers that did not form and the fingers that did form were abnormally long. These were the only fragments found in the sarcophagi?
