My Steem Monsters Journey

I wanted to share with people how and why I got into Steem Monsters and how fun it has been so far along with some of the not so great parts. I hooked up with the Pay it Forward Group I was taking part in their weekly curation contest post after someone was nice enough to feature me and I won a SBI share. I started to enter the contest and was having fun with it. I noticed something about one of the sponsors @erodedthoughts was giving out Steem Monsters cards to anyone that entered. I was entering so I figured I ask what that was about.

I found out that if I set up an account I would indeed get the cards sent to me. So I headed over to their discord channel and figured I would find out what his was all about. For one of the first times I found a discord with really active people. They all welcomed me and gave me a break down of what they were trying to do. It wasn’t just about creating a game it was also about creating something that many users would be apart of. It didn’t take me long to buy the starter pack and start to pick up a few packs. A soon as I did I started to get some gifts from some really nice members of their team. @CarrieAllen and @Clove71 stood out and some of the kindest people I have meet. They both gave me a lot of cards and not just common cards. I have been gifted cards up to a legendary that really at the time just blew my mind. I could not get over how rare these cards would be when the break down of how to level them up was understood. I wanted to buy a lot but I wasn’t sure and then the kickstarter began.

If you were a part of the kickstarter or the fundation for Steem Monsters. The only thing today you might be bummed about is that you didn’t buy a bigger package. This by far has been one of the best moves and biggest mistakes I have made. I did back it but could have backed it at a higher level. Today I am just trying to figure out what to do with the promo cards and I am not really sure. But it is a good problem to have. This kickstarter was a lot of fun to be a part of. As they had some challenges for the community and time and time again I was in discord chats with people pulling out all the stops to help beat those goals. We hit all of them and push up the rewards that all backers got. It was a lot of fun. All of this and we couldn’t even play yet. So then the game came out.

None I am not a guy with a bunch of max level teams. But most summoners are level 7 and have teams close to the max for them. Expect life haha I traded those away to get my death cards. That was my team and it seemed like a good pick I was having a lot of fun playing this game for sure. I have played games like this my whole life but I never got to take part in trying to write back stories for them or seeing the artwork get built. It was fun again to try and build the best decks. But then one thing started to happen that hurt the game for me. Bots with maxed cards. I know that a goal of this game was not to have pay to win be a big part of it. And they are working on that for sure. But for a bit that did happen. But they found a quick fix for a lot of that.

They have fixed the issues in this game so fast it is has been amazing. It is truly showing that they will listen to the players and work to make it better all the time. They didn’t ban bots that isn’t in the cars for a blockchain project. But the made the matchmaking system better and better. Today it is very easy to log in and play with people around your level so you can win a lot of games. I have to say that so far I have enjoyed this game a lot. That is one of the reasons I keep up my weekly giveaway of cards To try and get more people to take a look at he game.
