It's a fantastic game if you're willing to invest the time and if emergent systems can amuse you. Light on scripted play (though there are quest giver NPCs now), but loads of systems and interactions to explore.

Plus, survival is hard, which is a good game mechanic in itself for keeping people playing. A lot of players I know get really into building vehicles and bases.
