How we manage to achieve safety and security in our homes and communities is exactly how we can achieve the same internationally. When siblings argue, do parents advise they beat on each other until one of them dies and then that will resolve the dispute? No, just the opposite, parents teach their children cooperation, sharing and diplomacy. Why on earth would we expect less from government and religious leaders?! Social conditioning, that's why! We've been given an assortment of lies, usually involving DEMONIZATION of foreigners, to make us believe that the ENEMY will do to US what we will PRE-EMPTIVELY do to THEM. We can argue whether the threat is REAL or merely PERCEIVED until the cows come home, BUT if we don't turn our attention to the juvenile, sociopathic behavior of our own international leaders and figure out how to control THEM, there's a very strong chance - with nuclear weapons - that we're ALL going to die. Surely, there is no international dispute worth dying for on foreign soil. If the enemy isn't HERE, why should we go THERE to war with them?

These are all just questions of ethics and reason. We need to GROW and use BOTH if we hope to retain the title Homo SAPIENS.
