Antique Peter Wright Anvil ~ Price Sold $330

in #antiques7 years ago

This is an antique Peter Wright anvil. Exact age unknown but believe to be from the 1800s.

These anvil tools were and are essential in metalworking. They were used in making wrought
iron tools / items such as horse shoes, kitchen utensils, wagon wheels, etc...

We have sold several anvils over the years. The signed anvils are most popular and the second
priority in selling is the size and weight of the anvil. The heavier, the better.

Price realized / sold $330

My grandpa was a blacksmith and we spend many hours in his workshop watching those gigantic hands an fore arms almost playing with the redhot metal while sparks were flying. He had a similar anvil and would pick it up one handed when he was about to loose his temper. Those were the days in the fifties....

LOL! Great story and thanks so much for sharing @route45 Oh my, one hand! I was around a blacksmith for one day and I still remember the smell...amazing what you remember.

How cool! I have a tiny one... still waiting for one to come into our little savage yard...
