कोफी अन्नान
नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेते आणि सर्वसाधारण सभेचे माजी महासचिव कोफी अन्नान यांचे निधन झाले आहे. 8 एप्रिल 1938 रोजी घाना या देशात त्यांचा जन्म झाला होता. 1997 मध्ये कोफी अन्नान यांनी संयुक्त राष्ट्रांच्या विविध संघटनांमध्ये ताळमेळ रहावा म्हणून संयुक्त राष्ट्र विकास समुहाची स्थापना केली होती. पुढे ते 1962 ते 2006 इतका प्रदीर्घ काळ ते संयुक्त राष्ट्रात ते काम करत होते.
त्याचबरोबर, 1962 मध्ये कोफी अन्नान यांनी वर्ल्ड हेल्थ ऑर्गनायझेशन या संस्थेत अनेक वर्षे अधिकारी म्हणून काम केले होते. 1965 ते 1972 या कालावधीत त्यांनी इथियोपियाची राजधानी असलेल्या अद्दीस अबाबा येथे संयुक्त राष्ट्रांच्या इकॉनॉमिक कमिशन फॉर अफ्रिकेसाठी काम केले.
कोफी अन्नान यांनी जागतिक स्तरावर शांतता कशी प्रस्थापित होईल यावर लक्ष केंद्रीत केले आणि त्यासाठी आपले पूर्ण आयुष्य खर्च केले आहे. त्यासाठी, त्यांना 2001 मध्ये शांततेचा नोबेल पुरस्कार देऊनही गौरवण्यात आले होते. तसेच गरीबीचे उच्चाटन कसे करता येईल यादृष्टीनेही त्यांनी मोठ्या प्रमाणात समाजकार्य केले आहे.

Thank you guys for response to my post. I really felt sad when i heard the news of the death of Kofi Annan, he was a super genius brain who was instrumental in the formation of the United Nations. He would be remembered always.
