Maid-chan no Anime: Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3drei!

Hello, how are you? It is a rainy day here for Maid-chan! Luckily her servers are stored safe and water-proof.

For Illya from Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 3drei this is a bit different. Illya suddenly finds herself in snow. But first let’s have a look back.

Illya and her friends succeeded in saving her world from the strange eights card that had broken the gates between dimensions and invaded Illya’s world. During the fight half of a mountain was destroyed.

It is a bit of a surprise when the mountain suddenly looks to be totally intact. The team goes to investigate, only to stumble upon two sisters that are very strong and abduct Miyu.
Really, you should think slavery is a thing of the past! Unfortunately it is not.

Illya tried to save her friend and ends up being all alone in… not her town? It definitely looks a bit different from usual!

Illya is confused. There are the streets she knows. But her house is not there, and Luvia’s villa is also missing. And it snows. In the middle of the summer!

The city is also strangely deserted. And then this crater in the center? No wonder a young girl like Illya is confused. This confusion gets even worse when she meets a strange girl that has not only forgotten her clothes, but also her memories.

Illya and the girl that does not freeze even in snow are wandering around the city, trying to find out what the hell has happened. They finally find someone who can answer a few questions, but that person is nearly as strange as Tanaka!

And then someone else appears. You can call him Gil. Gil has more info about what has happened, and even more important, about Miyu. And he knows how to use one of Illya’s switches.

Gil tells Illya that Miyu is held captive in the castle of the Ainsworth. But where is that? Illya has not seen a castle.
Gil explains how this world works (Of course Illya is now in a different one. Only dumb humans don’t see that.) and where the castle is hidden. He makes an offer to sneak in there with Illya and Tanaka, since he has business to do with the Ainsworth himself.

But again, it is not all that easy. They get caught by Angelica Ainsworth, one of Miyus kidnappers. That woman has a hefty attack! And also fake Noble Phantasms, what a cheater!

Angelica also has a… logical personality and quiet frankly not all chips on the mainboard.

There is also a younger girl called Beatrice. She is broken. Just broken, in many meanings. Maid-chan recommends to keep as far away from her as possible. And then a bit more!

But the head if the family is Darius, and then there are Julian and Erica, all with a serious personality problem that make Tanaka-san look normal in comparison. They are also the good guys, meaning they want to save the world. But that part they can explain themselves.

Luckily Illya gets found by Kuro, who explains that they all landed here in this world, but at different times.

Kuro always knows how to dress, right? That glasses and twin tails are so cool!

Things happen and Illya ends up being in the Ainsworth’ castle again. But not in her body but… well, Maid-chan does not want to spoiler that. What Illya finds out is that the same thing has happened to the persons that were missing from her group. Their bodies are now taken over by a fake character.

Luvia looks better as a maid than Rin, don’t you think?

In the end there is a final battle, the moral decision and the greediness of a magical girl. Everyone gets freed and Miyu is reunited with those people she holds dear. And we get to see Miyu being spoiled! And angry!!

Conclusion

Maid-chan has very mixed feelings about this fourth season of Kaleid Liner. It’s like the makers ran out of ideas and thought “Let’s make a crazy world with crazy people”. There are interesting ideas, but the execution feels hasty and the actions of the characters not very coherent. Generally the story is a bit disappointing.

The graphics is also less beautiful as in prior seasons caused by the setting in winter. And there are so many open questions…

Maybe this is the reason why there wasn’t a 4ier season this year. There should be one, the story goes on, but the confused looking production may have hampered sales. Or it was that everything went into the film which depicts Miyu’s past and is directly connected to the end of 3drei!

All in all Maid-chan can give this season only a 7/10 on the totally objective Maid-chan scale. It definitely is the worst of all! Still worthwhile to watch, but not a “Finished? Let’s watch it again right now!” like the first season.
