The pacing is a real mood killer and nothing came close to Marineford

True that. Especially with the recent arc. I just watched the latest episode hours ago, almost 6min flashback including the opening song lol. I still do love One Piece though, storywise nothing comes close.

And that is why I read the manga.

I've always wanted to start the One Piece anime but the number of episodes often discouraged me. I also agree that dubbed are waaaay to horrible to use maybe with the exception of code geass which I later got used to. An example is the Pain speech just before he destroyed Konoha in Naruto Shippuden, listening to him speak while the theme song played in the background gave me chills, but the dubbed version was just..... meh, cheesy to me.
After reading this, I just might reconsider my decision on the One Piece anime :-)

Try to binge as much as you can and do not go into the current arc before it finishes. Also keep in mind how many things end incomplete since they are just teasers for later arcs. Also be warned that Marineford is the peak of the show so far and nothing afterwards comes anywhere close to it.

I recommend the manga. I'm sure the majority of One Piece fans in the eastern part of the world would rather watch the show, but the pacing of the manga is so much better (FYI the manga's pacing is better compared to the anime although still not perfect).

You should. And you should start from the very beginning. The art and animation at those episodes are very 'meh'. But the story, the entertainment, the fun, the tear-jerking scenes it's all there. :)

English Dubs lack charisma

They certainly do, the only anime (at least close to anime) that I watch dubbed in English was Pokemon. Other than that, I don't know of any out there that are at least decent to hear

wow, good review !!

I hope you mean that lol but thanks :)

i don't mean lol !!

One piece is awesome! I started reading it about 5 years ago and I'm caught up to the main story.

That is great :)

This is one of my favorite animes. Sadly, I haven't watched it in quite some time. Back when I was in high school the episodes weren't even at fishman island. So I started reading the manga. Well, I stopped once they took like a two week break lol. I think I had a lot going on in life at the time. I've been meaning to get caught up but that's like 500+ episodes lol. I'm waiting for the right time to binge. Funny thing is, my roommate started a few months ago from episode 1 and is already caught up. He filled me in to the most recent point but I still want to watch it for myself.

Great post and I would highly recommend this anime to anyone. Take care!

Hey thanks! Good for your friend, the thing is once you get hooked up with this show, you just can't help not to binge watch it. :) You should try at least 3eps/day first, it's only 17mins tops, minus both the OSTs, easily catchable. And please don't ever skip an arc or jump to an episode lol

Yeah, One Piece is def. one of those animes that makes you sit down and binge. I would but right now, I don't have the time. I work a lot and when I'm at home, I'm usually drawing or working on music. I also watch several other shows as well lol. I'm caught up with them so that's why I still watch them. I'm going to fit it in to my schedule somehow though because it's worth it. Yeah, I kinda skipped around in bleach as well lol. Never again though lol. They actually do a great job of recapping though as you progress in the anime. Still not as good as watching everything though. Unless there's a ridiculous amount of fillers :/

Fillers in OP are usually added after every arc and are around 3-5episodes. Sometimes they don't even feel like fillers lol or maybe I'm too biased Idk :)
I've always wanted to draw butI just don't have the talent and patience for that lol

Idk, maybe you are a little biased lol. Jk jk, I'm the same ways too. Only, the fillers in naruto shippuden got pretty bad for a little while there. I'm like 20 plus episodes of fillers lol. Yeah, sometimes I tend to get impatient, especially when I'm working on a piece that require 5 plus hours of work. It can be taxing on the mind. Usually I'm really happy afterwords though because I somewhat level up whenever I complete a drawing that takes that long.

Also, I forgot to mention that I didn't know that about fillers usually being added after an arc.

English dub for Japanese anime totally sucks. It's way better in subtitles. This is an excellent review, you were able to summarize the very essence of one piece. 👍👍👍 I love the way you can feel the emotions of the characters
P. S- shouldn't Zoro and Sanji be more than 19 years?

Thanks! And yes, you are right. At present, that is after the timeskip, Zoro and Sanji are now 21 years old. The above age are prior to the timeskip hence the little immaturity of some characters. :)

Ok, makes sense. I really can't wait for an arc with Zoro being at the center of the arc. Didn't think that Sanji could be broken.
