The Greatness of One Punch Man

One Punch Man has become one of my favorite anime, but what actually makes OPM so great? Well to answer that I think we have to start of by looking at the main character himself Saitama.

Saitama aka One Punch Man has the power to defeat anyone with one punch. He wasn't given this ability by being born with powers or by undergoing some kind of scientific experiment. Saitama gained the ability to defeat anyone by doing a vigorous workout of 100 push, 100 sit ups, 100 squats and a 10km run each day. So in Saitama's case he earned the ability to be great and his power wasn't given to him like most main characters.

So Saitama has all this power but what does he do with all of it?Well funny enough he's just an average guy that becomes a hero just for fun. He fights monsters just to see if he can get an actual fight out of them as opposed to beating them in one punch. Saitama is so over-powered that he gets depressed there’s no one strong enough to beat him.

He could be the greatest hero in the hero association but he would rather play video games or fight whatever monster he thinks would give him the joy of a nice fight. He doesn't care about the fame and glory of being a hero he just does it cause he's bored. His motives are completely unlike most main characters which I think makes his character so likable.

The series is a parody of superhero comics so it is funny to see Saitama go against what a typical superhero would be like and just point out the stupidity of heroism. Saitama's character really brings the humor to the anime as he interacts with the other heroes. He's a fun and likable character that can really pack a punch(pun intended lol) and he is one of the major factors that makes the show so awesome
