I also love hiking in the woods. I have one advantage; I'm not alergic to poison ivy. I found this out one day after helping a friend clear his lot. He called me later that day and asked if I was experiencing any rash or itching. I didn't think any more of it until the next day when my wife had broken out in an itchy rash. :-D
Supposedly, about 10% of the population is not allergic to it.... and probably too many live in the cities anyway.. wish I could trade.
That would be the best birthday present ever!
