The Bruno Report & My Steemit Life

For anyone that's been following Bruno's progress since I brought him to the vet a month or so ago- he appears to be making some improvement. He has doggie dementia (canine cognitive dysfunction) and arthritis, basically old age, he's around 14 and had a pretty rough life before I got him. When I brought him to the vet, he would become easily confused by things that were second nature, like climbing stairs. He would try to start but seemed confused- he would keep giving me looks that seemed to say: "I'm lost in here, please help me." The vet prescribed Anipryl Selegiline. I sent away for some "smart pills," supplemental treats for his memory and they seem to be working- he seems far more alert. I also sent for some joint formulas one with Provinal Omega 7 and Hyaluronic Acid and another with MSM, Glucosamine and Chondroitin. He also seems a little bit perkier! All this set me back about $2000 including the tests... which brings me to the second part (good segue huh???)

When I began on Steemit in late Nov. of 2016, I didn't have two nickels to rub together- literally! Steemit is what has allowed me to take care of my dog, hopefully adding to the longevity and quality of his life. It's also allowed me to help others. My ex wife takes care of our granddaughter and now I can help them out. I give to several organizations here on Steemit, @familyprotection, @informationwar and one or two individuals. If you think Steemit is here for you to make money, you're here for the wrong reason and probably won't succeed (unless you're an investor). The people who complain the most about the Whales, are the ones who bring the least to the table. Most of the Whales are people that invested their own money to get Steemit going and they deserve their rewards. Steemit is a community- if you want to succeed here, give. When I started I looked at it like it was Monopoly money- not real- and I gave it away. Now I'm able to pay bills and help others by doing what I love... writing (and I'm not even very good at it).

My advice for succeeding on Steemit is forget about succeeding on Steemit. Just work hard and create the best content you can... and don't spam people begging for upvotes! You're just cutting your own throat. If you're one of those, do yourself and everyone else a favor- go back to Fakebook, you belong there! For everyone else, thanks for your help... Bruno and I appreciate it!

I'd lie if I said I don't care about the money...I think anyone would, it's a great incentive to all of us here. That being said, Steemit is so much more than that. It goes far beyond...I mean, I can't actually believe that a year ago, very few close people had read my writing and now, there are people from all over the world who have...Not many, I admit, but it's out there for the world. That's a great step forward for me. And oh God, the people here (you being top of the list, of course) - I am so grateful to have met all of you. I love this site not for the money and not for the fact that I get to write, but for you and the other people I've come to care about since joining.
You know, now that I think about it...I know most of the people I have befriended on Facebook personally, and yet I don't care about most of them half as much as I do about my friends here, on Steemit.

I'm glad Bruno is doing well :)

That's pretty much what I'm saying... If you love the place for the people, the money will come. If you love the place for the money, the people won't come. And thank you for your friendship!

The boys and I (Bubba and LeRoy) approve.
The gurls (Dot, LB and Meeko) say hi..but who understands females?
I certainly don't.

We appreciate your support of our cause!
You have given good advice here.

Thank you! I'm proud to be able to help!

Thanks for writing the report! I'm glad to say I resteemed it.

My advice for succeeding on Steemit is forget about succeeding on Steemit. Just work hard and create the best content you can...

Good advice. When I first started, I looked at the Trending section and tried to ape what I saw there. I got nowhere.

Just work hard and create the best content you can... and don't spam people begging for upvotes! You're just cutting your own throat. If you're one of those, do yourself and everyone else a favor- go back to Fakebook, you belong there!

Even better advice. I've read several complaints and at least one remonstrance against spammy comments. Not a good way to go.

The higher your rep, the more you seem to attract. I've actually looked at the trending page once- somebody told me I made it and I didn't believe them!

Just to let you know Rich they were not joking you did make it to the trending page I saw you there.

I know, I went and checked- I couldn't believe it!

A HUGE WELL DESERVED CONGRATULATIONS!

I think that people are just lazy to think of good things to post but want the Steem. So they just start spamming and asking for it.

Yep, that sounds right.

Lovely sentiment @richq11. I recently came over to steemit and what i have experience of this community in the last few days beats anything i've seen on other social and blog platforms. I'm so glad i made the move here.
I also wish you lots of luck with Bruno. My wife is a vet nurse, so we have 4 rescued dogs and 8 rescued cats who share our life at the moment. I can sympathise with what you are going through with Bruno. It is great for Bruno and others like him that there are people like you to give them them time and care they need. I wish you both well!

Thank you! WOW 4 dogs and 8 cats!!! Great job- you should write about that!

Yes, I plan to at some point. The dogs often accompany me on my field sketching trips and the cats keep me company in my studio, so no doubt they will be cropping up from time to time in my blog posts!

I'm sure Bruno will have a very long life and I know he's happe because he's close to a nice person like you, dear friend!
About your advice for succeeding on Steemit, I totally agree with you! Working hard and creating the better content that we can create are the best advice that we can give to the newbie and I can add other tips too: enjoy to be in this community, have fun to read and write, have patience ^_^

Thank you my dear Silvia! I have a new squirrel. I thought it was Roland he was so big but this one is shy. I'll win him over!

The worst thing that can happen is not to have possibility to help pets because of a lack of money! I hope Steemit will continue to help you keep Bruno stable in the light of his age. He survived so many terrible things and deserves a calm old age with care and help.

Thank you! I'm powering down a bit and will send you a little steem tomorrow to help you out with all your babies!

The magic of Steemit is to be magical to feel the magic and take everyone where they want. Greeting that is improved "BRUNO"

my pet "borrowed" sends greetings

Thank you!

Wow supplemental treats for memory loss didn't know they had those for dogs, anyway I am very glad Bruno is a little bit better and happier its such a shame people cant see animals are just like us they age also and get problems thank you Rich for the good news.

I think he's going in the right direction... it's only been a month, but he seems a lot more alert and he seems peppier!

This is so sweet, its honestly great to read such stories. I hope your pupper gets better!

Thank you... he seems to be responding well. It's only been about a month. The one type of arthritis is supposed to be faster than the MSM one which usually takes 60-90 days.

Arthritis is a very common issue among older dogs, my friend's dog had a rough time because of it. Do let me know if i can help in any way, I'm a pharmacy student and would love to oblige.

Thanks... My daughter is a pharmacist. Where are you going to school?

Oh that's great! I'm currently studying in Canada and will be done in about a year. :)
