15 Animals in Danger, part # 2

Hello my dear Steemians, I present the list of the following, 5 species of animals, which are in the process of extinction, a few days ago published the first of a series of 3 publications, in which I dedicate myself to talk about these animals, that because of human beings, now they are in danger of extinction, I wanted with these publications to call the attention of the people who read it, and if it is possible to cause some feeling that motivates them to do what is within their reach, to relay these messages and cause a change in human habits, which unfortunately, influence in a negative way, in the beings with whom we live in this, our home.
Let's start.

6.-Mountain Gorilla

Mountain gorillas are one of the subspecies of oriental gorillas that currently exist in the world. These gorillas can be found both in Central Africa and Uganda and they are quadruped and terrestrial animals, which have diurnal habits and have a clear sexual dimorphism and a marked differentiation between individuals.

The population of mountain gorillas is really low as they do not reach 1000, although efforts are currently being made to increase these figures. The main threats of mountain gorillas have always been poaching, deaths at the hands of nets placed to hunt other animals, loss of their natural habitat due to the creation of human settlements and diseases, as well as the different wars that they have taken place in their territories.

The natural habitats of mountain gorillas are destroyed by humans, destroying their mountains, jungles and forests to build roads, to create areas of crops etc. relegating them to higher and higher places, isolated and hidden.

The jaguar, is the largest feline in America and the third in the world (after the lion and the tiger), is also the only representative of the Panthera genus found in this continent, inhabits almost desert places like the Arizona Desert or the Mexican altiplano to tropical jungles like the Amazon.

The weight of an adult jaguar ranges from 45 to 130 kg, the length from the nose to the tip of the tail is 1.70 to 2.30 m, and it has a longevity of 20 years. Its fur is yellowish brown with irregular black spots (called rosettes). However, some may be black with spots of the same color. Despite its heavy appearance, the jaguar is very agile, runs and nothing great distances.

This feline is in danger of extinction, because the territory where it lives and its skins are sold for a lot of money on the black market is increasingly reduced, even though efforts are made to take care of it and try to reproduce it to increase its population, poaching rages and decimates.

8.- Sumatran Orangutan

The Orangutans of Sumatra live mainly on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, although their territory is reduced to the extreme north.
These beautiful animals are almost totally arboricolas, it is very difficult to see them in the ground, and when they do, it is for a brief period of time, they are mostly in swampy areas, riverbank forests and tropical lowlands.
The occupation by humans of their territory, poaching, the indiscriminate sale of their species as pets and for circuses, are the reason why today they are an endangered species.

Originally, the tigers extended from the Asian continent to Turkey. India and China inhabited large populations of these animals, although their habitat has been greatly reduced. Since they are very territorial and require a large space, rivalry between nearby individuals struggling to maintain their dominance is common today.

The current state of conservation of tigers is extremely regrettable. The most optimistic estimates establish their world population in some 4000 or 5000 tigers in the wild, which added to the 1150 tigers that exist in captivity, gives us a figure that is not encouraging at all.

The destruction of their habitat and poaching are increasingly limiting the survival of the tiger, which is experiencing a precipitous decline in its population every day. Despite conservation efforts and the enactment of laws aimed at protecting them, this is not enough to stop their imminent risk of extinction.

On the black market, tiger skin is highly valued for making clothes, while bones and other parts are used as part of traditional Asian medicine. To this we must add that the tigers are very territorial, and that the activities of indiscriminate felling in the Asian forests continue to make the situation worse.

10.-Polar Bear

Polar bears live only where it is very cold, around the Arctic region.
They are solitary, with bodies that have unique characteristics to manage the climate, of the areas where they live that is extremely cold. They are unbearably beautiful and totally fascinating animals. They evolved from brown bears billions of years ago, and now we know of the existence of 19 species of them in the world. The main food for the polar bears are several species of seals, vallenas, fish, basically, everything they can catch with their strong jaws. These bears spend most of their lives in the water.
There are many conservation efforts for the polar bear currently. As of 2008 they have been on the list of animals in danger. Its current population is estimated at around 25,000 maximum. Let us hope that these conservation efforts are not too late to help that figure increase.
