The Montezuma Oropendola is a New World tropical icterid bird. Mostly resident breeder in the Caribbean coastal lowlands from southeastern Mexico to central Panama, but is absent from El Salvador and southern Guatemala.
Scientific name : Psaracolius montezuma
Food : These birds are omnivores because they eat variety of fruits, seeds, insects and small vertebrates. They drink nectar from the flowers of banana and balsa.
Activity :The male's call a loud bubbling and gurgling is a distinctive sound of the rain forest. When protecting their young they scream.They are diurnal.
Territory : These large birds live in the rain forest near clearings, steams, rivers and coastal lowlands. They also can be found close to banana plantations. They range from southern Mexico to central Panama in Central America.
Interesting facts : This bird makes a pouch nest that hangs from a tree branch. They live in colonies usually filling a single tree with many of their tear-shaped nests which are woven from fiber and vines.
