Galah and Aussie Slang 粉红凤头鹦鹉和澳洲俚语

The first time I was introduced to the word "galah" was when I was a tourist visiting Australia for the first time in 1999. My family and I went on a day trip to the Great Ocean Road and the tour guide told us to look at the huge group of galahs at the side of the road. He told us that in Australia, people use the word galah to describe someone who is stupid and foolish because this type of bird is not very smart!

1999年我第一次到澳洲玩的时候,在往大洋路的遊览车上听导遊跟我们说, 看看外面的galah (粉红凤头鹦鹉)。他说澳洲人若是想骂人笨,会说你是galah!

Years later I came back to Canberra, Australia as an international student and took this photo of the beautiful galah on the campus of the ANU.
多年後我回来念书, 在ANU校园拍到这隻美丽的粉红凤头鹦鹉。
