Rare - Bare Chicken

This featherless chicken is a species of crosses created by Avigdor Cahaner, an Israeli scientist. Naked chicken is a blend of broiler chickens and featherless neck races (neck without fur.)
The idea behind the development of bare chicken is 'creating' more efficient chickens to be cultivated in warmer climates. In addition, this chicken can increase efficiency in places of slaughtering because it does not take time for the removal of feathers.
Unfortunately the bare chickens are also difficult to mate because they can not flap their wings to keep the balance. While female bare chickens are more susceptible to parasites, skin diseases, mosquito attacks, temperature changes, and sunburn because they do not have feathers that also serve as body armor.

Thanks for this post. We're looking at getting some chickens as part of a @homeschooling project and we're researching different breeds. I think we will give the bare chickens a miss though!
